That's the musical question asked by Tom Waits in a new collaboration with The Book of Knots. The song is called Pray (follow the link to download the mp3, courtesy of the cool kids at Pitchfork), and although this is the first time I've ever heard of this particular band, any friend of Tom is a friend of mine.

In a related note, PBS will be showing "Roy Orbison and Friends" in February. One of the "friends" is a much younger Tom Waits. (Also includes Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, k.d. lang, Jackson Browne, Elvis Costello, and T-Bone Burnett. With that line-up, I'm surprised Warren Zevon isn't there as well.)
