Ah, you mean "komodo dragons", not one of those winged, scaly, mythical gold-hoarding things.

Yes, I ment indonesian Komodo dragons, not winged fire-breathing dragons, of course.

i think your headline is a little misleading. i read about this a couple days ago and i was very impressed with the find. i grew up in luzon, i am extremely surprised at the discovery because of all the people living on that island. good post, but maybe rethink the headline.

Are You Phillipinian?

Sorry if You are offended by a concept "philippinian monster"

I like this word, but probably you are right -- it seems that this creature eats fruits, and, unlike its "brother"-dragon from Komodo, it does not seem to be dangerous for people.

"Giant reptile", I think, is good word.

By the way, do you have stories about other cryptozoological creatures in Phillipines? It is a very wild place, they must be.

lol...the word is pilipino. filipino, for ease of talk in the west (we have no 'f' or 'ph' sound in our alphabet).

i'm not offended by, i'm glad you put it up. crypto is all about new things that aren't monstrous too. i just thought the title was a little misleading.

as for other 'creatures', the islands abound with many stories of 'creatures' of all sorts. the two most well-known would be the kapre and aswang (aswangs were covered recently on Destination Truth on SyFy). i know a fair amount, but the older generations know a whole lot more. and there have personal experiences and accounts in my family...so i frankly take such stories and folklore seriously, but methodically.

hope that answers your question, good post i still say.
