I'm Canadian and don't know my American geography, but this and this may prove fruitful - that second one less so, I think, since it's global, but it's worth a look.
ETA: Can I guess? Are you setting up a tabletop game? Um... I'm out of ideas already. It must be the wine.
In following the links and scoping out their databases, the Beast of Bray Road is the most promising. The others are just Bigfoot/Yeti/Sasquatch/Skunk Ape/Yowie/et cetera folks, ghosts, UFOs, and a huge turtle.
I still have yet to see the giant rats that I was warned about in moving to Chicago. Apparently there is supposedly some that are size of dogs. the biggest I have seen could be mistaken for cats, raccoons or possums, but not the size I was told about. Also heard about spiders the size of salad plates, just haven't seen any that big either.
Otherwise, Chicago is big on ghosts and paranormal influenced architecture. Also Chicago is a big hub of hoodoo and the occult.
In going outside of the city to the west and to the north, there have been reports of seeing what has been described as Hell Hounds, wild dogs of large size, similar to wolves but all black.
Hope this helps. Also check out Weird Illinois by Troy Taylor. He did an excellent job on Illinois and he also did Weird Wisconsin.
