The creature has a reptilian skull with long canine teeth and large molars. It has small wing bones like those of flightless birds.

... how is it a reptilian skull if the most obvious trait is teeth arranged in a mammalian-only configuration? Ugh. It's a bloody dog skull stuck on a chicken.

That's no bird. More like the partial carcass of some desert canid. Jackal or fox, possibly dog.
