Nelly photo shoot!

I went over to Helping Hounds today to take some photos of Nelly, a dog who has been there for WAY too long. She's a good girl, but SO high energy. Danielle (the trainer) is teaching her impulse control and working with all that energy but what she really needs is a job. She'd be a great dog for a lot of different sports. She's fast, focused, ( Read more... )

She is GORGEOUS. And her personality just shines through these pictures; I can already tell she's just the kind of dog I love. And hello, if she is a crazy cattlepittie, she is my FAVORITE POSSIBLE DOG.

Great job, M!

Seriously! You would LOVE this dog. She's fast and smart and so athletic. I'm SURE she has ACD in her and I wouldn't be surprised to see pit there too. She could also be pointer or BC or you know, SOMETHING. Whatever she is she's awesome. Has some MAJOR impulse control issues (she likes to go up the leash and will bite at your hands when she gets over stimulated). Relaxation protocol is a must! lol But Danielle is working on all of that with her and she's getting there. She used to not be able to sit around toys at ALL.

Those pcitures are so good! I love that you can see her personality through them it's helpful for a potential adopter!

I see Lab/Pointer/Pitbull, and maybe some herdy kind of dog. She looks a ton like a dog I had named Gunner and he was lab/basset hound/springer spaniel/pointer thingy. AND WE THOUGHT HE'D BE A GOOD PET FOR PEOPLE IN A SMALL HOUSE IN THE CITY. LoL no, he was rehomed and was an excellent hunting dog.

I'm big time suspecting ACD. She looks very ACD to me, but there's obviously something else in there. Maybe pointer and/or pit? So hard to say.

She could be ok in the city in a small house if she were BIG TIME mentally and physically exercised each day. She actually does REALLY well being crated for much of the day at the rescue (which is sort of half shelter/half rescue). She settles nicely.

I really do think she needs to be in a sport home. She'd do SO well with someone who wanted a dog to do sports.
