I was wondering if anyone on my FList can help me out. I'm doing a drawing of Rabi from D.Gray-man, but I suck at shading... so I was wondering if anyone knew if the shading was okay? Oh and the anatomy? XD
D: I am so terrible at shading, you have no idea. So I can't help you there, unfortunately (though I do think it looks pretty good).
However, while your anatomy is good for the most part, your perspective is not. At least on Rabi's lifted foot, anyway. Right now it looks like his foot is broken and pinned up to his shin. I'd lengthen the thigh, extend the shin forward and tip the foot down a bit. Also, something about his other leg makes it look like it's on sideways. ;o; I think it's the dark line over the knee (which makes me think of the back of one's knee) and the boot not curving out on the inside.
Argh, I'm terrible at explaining things. If you don't understand what I mean, I can re-explain or draw an example of what I mean. D:
...looks like his foot is broken and pinned up to his shin...
That made me laugh so hard. Anyways, yes thank you so much! I do see what you're saying. I was having difficulties with his right leg--the fitted one--so you helped me out. Thanks again! :D
komichi pretty much caught the anatomy, and the only thing I can really add is that the hand on his hip looks really uncomfortable. I'd suggest putting your hand on your hip and looking at it in a mirror.
Shading-wise... Well, you don't have many majored problems, if at all. I tweaked it a bit on Photoshop, some little things.
Thanks for the suggestions! Yeah, well his hand wasn't suppose to be on his hip. It was actually suppose in front. Since it didn't look right--like you said. I decided to move his arm like this:
:D i think your doing great with the shading. this pose you picked is a pretty difficult pose to draw i think, so credit yourself well for trying :] the only thing i keep on staring at is his lifted foot. but i see the prior people that posted had covered most of my point. good luck and i cant wait to see the final work ~
haha, I'm so completely late. XD But would you mind me dropping my two cents?
The shading for the most part is really well done. But the shading in the hair isn't in a straight line down his head, it should zig-zag(?) in the direction his hair is going.
Maybe his arm should go behind his head? It still looks unnatural to me, even in the edited one... But I'm not sure what you want to do with it so...
And since the foot's been mentioned, I'll just leave it at that. ^___^;;

PS: I just realised that you missed the shoulder pads on Lavi's uniform. Uh... Sorry, that was me being a nitpick, ignore me~~~~
Oh yeah, the hair is bit crazy. Heh heh. Will fix that once I color it and as for the arm... I was thinking of changing the position or angle of the arm. And still fighting with that darn foot.
Yes, I know they are missing, but thanks for pointing it out. :) I may change his uniform to his recent one. He looks really good in that uniform. XD
