Arika Yumemiya is a very simplistic-seeming character. She’s easily excitable and very ‘genki,’ and is almost always very happy. She’s friendly to a fault, and trusting even further, willing to forgive and ignore almost anything if she trusts you enough. She is quite literally the definition of a ‘country bumpkin’, not having ever been to the ‘big city’ before, and doesn’t really understand any of the subtleties or intricacies of politics or ‘big city’ life.
To make up for what she doesn’t know, Arika often relies on the advice she got from her grandmother, as well as anyone else who is willing to give it. She’s also quite willing to parrot this advice whenever someone goes against what she’s been taught. She’s horrible with studying, and barely passes her classes, getting primarily by her physical skills.
Arika is endlessly optimistic in almost all situations. No one has use of their abilities and it seems like people might be killed? Don’t give up! Your rival-turned friend-turned rival-turned arch enemy who has killed countless people and is now begging you to kill her? Tell her everything’ll be alright and try to save her. If you don’t give up on people and things, then eventually everything will come out fine.
That’s not to say that she shrugs everything off. She’ll hide it and try to shrug everything off, pretending to be as perky and optimistic as usual, but inside she’ll be torn up, often tearing herself up further. Being so naïve and simple, conflicting emotions was something she hadn’t experienced before. When things to beyond her control, she’s not beyond BSOD-ing, though with support she recovers quickly.
