Pairing: Matt/Mohinder

Summary: Matt and Mohinder finally get their new beginning…or do they?
Disclaimer: I still don’t own anything
AN: It was just begging to be wrote so who am I  to say no?

Matt had never seen so many nerds, geeks, and dorks in his life. Not even when he took Micah to Comic Con; and there were a lot of them there.
“What are we doing here again Gates?” he asked Micah as they filed into a row and took their seats.
“We’re here to see Stuart Shieber talk about his book on the Turing test,” Micah explained, rolling his eyes exasperatedly.
“Yeah Parkman,” Nathan said with a grin, “Keep up.”
“Behave you two or I’m going to have to ground you both,” Niki hissed, taking a seat on the other side of Micah.
“And you want to marry this woman,” Matt said, gesturing at her with his thumb and turning to Nathan.
Nathan had proposed to Niki last month and was still wearing that smug look-what-I-did expression that he wore when he told Matt that she had agreed to marry him.
“What can I say, love makes you do crazy things,” Nathan replied with a shrug.
“Shhh,” Niki and Micah hushed them simultaneously.
Nathan and Matt held up their hands in surrender, making innocent faces and sitting back in their chairs.

“Matt, Matt wake up,” Nathan said, shaking his shoulder gently.
“Huh?” Matt woke with a start.
“You were snoring Uncle Matt,” Micah said, grinning.
Matt looked around, seeing the room nearly cleared out.
“Sorry,” he apologized, getting to his feet.
“I knew that you should have stayed home today,” Niki said, disapproving and worried at the same time.
“Niki,” Matt said patiently, “It’s been six months. I’m all healed. I’ve even been back to work for the past two weeks.”
“I know Matt. I just worry is all, I can’t help it.”
“I know Niki and I love you all the more for it,” Matt said, smiling and pinching her chin between his thumb and forefinger to bump their foreheads together, “Now let’s go find something interesting to listen to.”
“If you hadn’t fallen asleep, you would have been fascinated,” Micah said, leading the way out of the room.
It had been six months since Matt had been shot four times in the chest by a psychopathic serial killer. Six months since the love of his life disappeared and broke his heart. All that remained of their time was the angry red scars that stood out on his chest, the half-burned candles that sat on his dresser and nightstand, and the lingering scent of curry, chai, and something uniquely Mohinder on his pillows and bedspread. Of course, he would never admit any of this to Niki. Just like he would never admit to how much it hurt when the nurses and doctors in the hospital would talk about his “ghost” or “guardian angel” that stayed by his side until he woke up. Just like he would never admit to the address written on a scrap of paper he kept in his pocket at all times.
They were at some sort of meeting-of-the-minds convention today. Micah had insisted that they all go as a family, even Matt, despite Niki’s protests. Frankly, if she had her way Matt would still be in the hospital or at least relegated to the bed. But Micah won and here he was, pretending to be interested in things that were beyond his comprehension. He couldn’t even take a multiple choice test, why the hell would he want to learn about the Turing test.
“Hey this one looks like it might be good,” Niki said, indicating to a sign.
“Genetics and Psychopathy: The Weakest Link,” Nathan read off, “Sounds faaascinating honey,” he said, taking on a bad British accent.
“Idiot,” Niki said, giving him a playful shove.
“Matt!”
Matt turned around to face the source of the high-pitched squeal of his name. Molly came running out of the crowd to throw herself into Matt’s arms.
“Molly?” he asked stunned as he caught her.
“I’m so happy to see you! I’m glad you didn’t die,” she cried, happily wriggling her dangling feet and hugging him tightly around the neck.
Nathan looked just as surprised but he was looking over Matt’s shoulder into the crowd behind him.
“Molly darling, you mustn’t run off like that.”
Matt would recognize that cultured, accented voice anywhere. Matt turned around to meet the equally shocked face of Mohinder Suresh.
“Matthew?” he squeaked.
Matt couldn’t help but appreciate the sight of him while feeling pleased at the guilt on his face. Mohinder defined sexy. Tall and lean and dark with his mess of inky black curls and onyx eyes; the very sight of him was enough to get his blood burning, not that it was. The fact that he could picture what hid underneath the crisp white shirt and dark blue trousers in HD definition certainly didn’t make any difference to Matt. He would be aloof and cool; he would not let Mohinder throw him off balance. He would greet Mohinder calmly and rationally and walk away with his dignity still intact. Mohinder was the one who left so if anyone should feel uncomfortable it should be him
“What are you doing here?” he demanded instead.
Mohinder had the decency to look disconcerted, mouth opening and shutting twice as he tried to form the words. Molly wiggled down and out of Matt’s arms to return to Mohinder’s side.
“Daddy’s here to talk about him,” she said darkly, face screwing up in distaste at the word ‘him’.
“Sylar?” Nathan blurted out.
“Yes,” Mohinder said, raising his chin a notch and nodding towards the sign behind them, “That’s my lecture. I’m using him as a case study. If you’ll excuse us, we need to get ready.”
He nodded quickly to each of them and grabbed Molly’s hand to steer her away. Molly turned around to wave brightly at them. Matt watched them go, jumping slightly at Niki’s hand on his arm.
“I’m fine,” he said, smiling tensely at her concerned eyes.

Dammit Dammit  Dammit
I wasn’t ready
Mohinder mentally berated himself for how he handled that. Although, in his defense he wasn’t expecting to see Matt so soon. He was expecting to have more time to prepare before having to face him.
He was praying that Matt and his family had decided on another lecture but when he stepped up to the podium to speak, his gaze was drawn right to them. He anxiously cleared his throat before beginning.
After he answered a few question, he quickly made his way backstage to grab Molly. Someone distracted him by calling his name and when he turned around to look he ended up bumping into someone with a loud, “Oomph.”
He nearly fell backwards until he felt a pair of strong arms go around his waist. He looked up in surprise at the Matt’s dark eyes. If he was a more superstitious man he would think he was cursed. A part of him melted into the embrace, breathing a heavy sigh of relief at finally being back in those wonderful arms again.
“Uhh…sorry,” he said and pushed away, the panicked prey side winning out.
“No problem,” Matt answered as Micah, Niki, and Nathan coming to stand beside him.
“I uh-I have to go,” he said, nearly running away, leaving Matt staring after him, confused and a little insulted.
“Well that was fun,” Nathan drawled, patting Matt’s shoulder, “Who wants ice cream?”

“Thank you Noah,” Mohinder said, shaking the other man’s hand.
“Believe me Mohinder, it’s mine and the university’s pleasure. I have to ask though, why NYU?”
Mohinder smiled ruefully, “Yale and I had a little falling out in that they thought it was bad form to have the ex-partner of a serial killer on staff so they quietly fired me.”
“You could sue for discrimination.”
“I suppose. However, I take it as a blessing in disguise. I have some pretty strong ties to New York,” he replied.
“Okay, I get it. Well, I know you guys are staying at a hotel so if you need a place to stay until you find an apartment you know where to find me.”
“Thanks but I’m hoping to have a place soon,” Mohinder said, shutting the door behind him.
Molly was waiting in a chair outside the door and jumped off to grab his hand when he walked out and asked if she was ready to go. Suddenly her eyes lit up and huge smile stretched across her face.
“Micah,” she cried, letting go of Mohinder’s hand to run at the little boy with his mother who had paused halfway down the hall at the sound of her voice.
Mohinder walked quickly to catch up to her, feeling himself blush under Niki’s scrutiny.
“What are you doing here?” Micah asked, returning Molly’s happy hug.
“Daddy’s getting a job so we don’t have to leave again,” Molly told him.
“Really now?” Niki asked, raising her eyebrows.
“Yes, it’s just been finalized,” Mohinder replied.
“I thought you had a job somewhere else you liked?”
“New Haven and Yale don’t quite hold the same appeal that they used to.”
“And New York does?” Niki asked with a small laugh.
“Actually, I’d have to say that New York is more appealing than they ever were,” Mohinder answered.
“Is that so? Do you think New York finds you as appealing?” Niki asked.
“I don’t know. I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see how it goes.”
Micah and Molly watched the exchange between their parents, heads swinging like pendulums back and forth. Molly looked questioningly at Micah, confused. Micah just shrugged, raising his hands in the universal gesture for ‘I have no clue’.
“Well good luck to you,” Niki said finally.
“Before you leave, I was wondering if you could recommend a good babysitter.”

Mohinder had no idea what he was going to say. His heart was trying to beat out of his chest and his stomach trying to crawl up his throat.
For once in your life Suresh don’t be such a coward!
His future was over there, sitting on a blanket at the edge of the clearing, just waiting for him to grow a spine and walk over. Of course, Matt had no idea that Mohinder was here, much less that Niki had shoved him out the door to “let loose” for the express purpose of giving Mohinder the perfect setting to approach him. Of course, she didn’t agree to help him until she made a few rather detailed threats to certain parts of his anatomy if he hurt Matt again.
He had come back to New York for this. His job at the university didn’t matter, the conference didn’t matter. He had come back to New York because life without Matthew Parkman was not living at all. He wanted Matt in his life, needed his love like the air he was currently sucking in frantically. He had come here to win Matt back and now he was too terrified to do anything.
He steeled his shoulders, straightened his back, took a deep breath and walked until he stood in front of Matt. He still had no idea what he was going to say and Matt’s astonished expression only served to further tie his tongue in knots. So he said the first thing that came out of his mouth.
“May I have this dance?”
Matt’s eyebrows shot up somewhere in the vicinity of his hairline and he gaped at Mohinder as something akin to a snort escaped his lips.
“You could have just said no Matthew,” Mohinder said with a nervous laugh.
Matt made a move to stand up, most likely to run away, but Mohinder put his hands on his shoulder and held him in place.
“I realize that you probably just want to get as far away from me as possible and I can’t say that I blame you. I’ve been absolutely horrible to you, and I’m not even counting Sylar shooting you. I’ve lied to you, used you, put you in danger, left you and you have every right to never want to see me again but I need you to please listen to me. I wanted to have more time, to have a whole speech prepared but then I saw you the other day and realized that it didn’t matter how much time I had because I still wouldn’t be ready,” he paused in his frenetic ramblings to take a deep breath.
“Do you want to know how long it took me to realize what a complete dolt I was?” he continued, slower this time, “You see, I needed to take care of some things before I could stay which was why I had to leave. You may have killed my devil but I still had my own demons to face before I could truly move past everything. I had to sell the house, lose my job, burn some things but I shouldn’t tell you that because it was probably illegal. I know I have no right to ask you but I need to,” he said, falling to his knees in front of Matt.
“Please Matthew, please forgive me. Please give me another chance and I promise I won’t mess this one up. I love you Matthew and want to spend the rest of my life with you. Please,” he pleaded softly, looking into Matt’s eyes with tear-glazed eyes of his own.
“Mohinder…” Matt began slowly.
“No,” Mohinder nearly yelped, “I have more to say. I, mmpffh…”
He was cut off by Matt grabbing his face between his hands and pulling him into a deep kiss.
“Matthew,” Mohinder moaned softly against his lips, twinning his arms around his neck and moving closer so that he was flush against Matt’s chest.
Matt responded by tilting his head back and deepening the kiss, slipping his tongue between parted lips to caress Mohinder’s tongue.
“Mohinder,” he said, breaking this kiss to lean his forehead against Mohinder’s, “I don’t care if your name is Mohinder Zarin, Suresh, or freaking Gandhi; I love you. I never stopped.”
He paused to pull away, leaving Mohinder suddenly cold and bewildered. He reached into his pocket and handed Mohinder a slip of paper.
“That’s my old address in New Haven,” he said, looking at Matt confusedly.
“I was ready to give you the time to deal with whatever you needed to but I had no intention of letting you go. If you weren’t ready to come back by next month, I was ready to come to you and drag you back, or wherever you wanted to go.”
He cupped Mohinder’s cheek gently, brushing a soft kiss across his lips, “I love you Mohinder.”
“I love you too,” he whispered.
“Now,” Matt said brightly, sitting back on his heels, “How bout’ that dance?”
“I have a better idea,” Mohinder said standing up and holding out a hand to help Matt up, “I have a hotel room all paid up for the night and Niki has Molly.”
“When you put it that way,” Matt said, waggling his eyebrows suggestively, “I guess that explains why Niki pretty much threw me out the door.”
“Your sister is quite the character.”
“You might as well get used to calling her your sister too,” Matt said casually.
Mohinder took him by surprise, pushing him against the tree and kissing him fiercely.
“That’s nice but we might want to get to the hotel first,” Matt said, pushing his hands up Mohinder’s shirt to caress his sides.
By the time they made it into the hotel room, Mohinder’s shirt was halfway off and Matt’s belt got lost somewhere in the elevator.
“God I missed you,” Matt breathed, pulling Mohinder’s shirt over his head to toss across the room before nearly ripping his trousers off.
“Me too,” Mohinder murmured against his neck, sucking on the pulse point as he stepped out of his pants.
He wormed his way under Matt’s shirt to tug it off, tossing it to land next to his, before pulling Matt into another kiss and walking him backwards to the edge of the bed. He stepped back to push Matt’s jeans and boxers down his legs to the floor, Matt kicking them off. In the meantime, Mohinder pulled his boxers off, ridding himself of the last barrier between his and Matt’s body.
“I almost forgot how beautiful you were,” Matt rasped out, gazing wondrously at Mohinder in all his glory.
He quickly lost his ardor when he saw Mohinder, frozen in place and staring at him.
“Mohinder?” he ventured, reaching out a hand to him.
He stopped halfway there when he realized what Mohinder was staring at. His scars. Angry, ugly, red welts that slashed their way across chest. He blushed and put his hands up to cover his chest, an inadequate screen.
“I-I’m sorry, I should have warned you,” he said, embarrassed.
“Warned me about what?” Mohinder asked, finally looking up and looking genuinely confused.
“Hey, it’s okay. They get to me sometimes too.”
“Oh,” Mohinder’s eyes widened as he understood what Matt was talking about, “It’s not like that. It’s just that…it’s just that last time I saw you they weren’t scars. They were gaping wounds that almost killed you. Now, it’s like they’re nothing, just scar tissue that can’t do any more damage than a paper cut and I-I suppose I’m just taken aback at how they…seem to lessen the true severity.”
He put his hands on Matt’s stomach, pushing up until they rested over the scars, “You’re still the most beautiful man I’ve ever seen. Matthew. You’re scars are nothing but proof of what an incredible person you are.”
He kissed Matt, stepping forward and forcing him back until his knees connected with the bed and sent him tumbling down. He scrambled up, Mohinder following him on his hands and knees, refusing to break the kiss.
“I love you Matthew,” he murmured.
He slowly made his way down Matt’s chest, hot, little, openmouthed kisses falling in his wake, kissing each scar in turn. He dipped his tongue into Matt’s navel, causing the other man to moan his name and tangle his finger’s in his hair. Matt breath caught in this throat as he felt Mohinder breathing soft gusts of air across the underside of his cock before licking up, root to tip. The warm, wet suction of his mouth sliding over the length of his erection was better than anything Matt could ever have imagined. The rough tongue swirling around the head and rubbing up and down the sensitive vein on the underside of his cock as Mohinder bobbed up and down Matt’s length, swallowing slowly to take him deeper as his hand gently squeezed his balls in rhythm had him thrashing his head against the pillow and trying not to crush Mohinder’s head between his thighs.
Mohinder slid off him, laying a quick kiss on the top before stretching himself atop Matt, leaning on his elbows to keep his full weight off his chest.
“Not you too,” Matt grumbled.
He locked his arms around Mohinder and flipped them so that he pressed his full weight down on him, “I’m not breakable.”
“That’s good,” Mohinder said, arching up against Matt, “Because if you were then we couldn’t do half the things I have planned for tonight.”
Matt growled, pushing his leg between Mohinder’s to grind against him as he kissed him. Then Mohinder pressed a tiny tube in his hand with a little moan and he was ready to come then and there. He quickly coated himself and his fingers in the silky liquid and reached a hand between them to probe at Mohinder’s entrance, readying him. By the time he had inserted a third finger Mohinder was frantically kissing his face and moaning, “Now, now, now.”
Matt removed his hand and grasped Mohinder’s cock, pulling in short tugs as Mohinder wrapped his legs around his waist and he carefully pushed inside. He paused, filling Mohinder to the hilt, to gaze down at him. With his face flushed with passion, eyes squeezed shut, and bottom lip caught between his teeth, Mohinder really was the most beautiful creature he had ever seen. He leaned down to kiss him and he began to slowly thrust in and out. Mohinder moaned, pressing his face into Matt’s shoulder as his hips lifted to meet Matt’s thrusts with his own. Matt returned to stroking his cock, matching their rhythm.
Mohinder clamped his legs tighter around Matt as he felt his climax approaching in a warm rush of sticky heat. He moaned into Matt’s shoulder as he tensed, coming all over Matt’s hand and their stomachs.
“I love you,” Matt shouted, thrusting deeply one last time before coming.
Mohinder rained soft kisses on his face, murmuring endearments and “I love you’s” into his hair as he stroked his shuddering back. Eventually, Matt found the energy to move and they cleaned up before slipping under the covers, him curling around Mohinder’s back. He pressed a kiss to his spine, nuzzling fuzzy hair to breath in his scent.
“Two minutes,” Mohinder whispered.
“Hmm?” Matt asked sleepily.
“Two minutes. That’s how long it took for me to realize how stupid I was to think that I could live without you.”
“I have you beat then.”
“How’s that?” Mohinder asked.
“I knew I couldn’t live without you from the very beginning.”
Mohinder turned around so that he faced Matt, reaching up to brush his knuckles across his cheek, “I love you Matthew.”
Matt smiled, twisting his head to kiss Mohinder’s palm, “And I love you.”
“Great minds think alike I suppose.”
“Damn right.”
Mohinder laughed as Matt pulled him against his chest, holding him tight to him. He was truly happy and what do you know, he really was getting his new beginning.
