So Aleks and I have just returned from seeing V for Vendetta. I thought it was a great movie, I really enjoyed it (way better than either Brokeback Mountain or Good Night and Good Luck...and I liked both of those movies

I don't believe you have the right to make that statement without reading the book. As soon as I get it back from Evan, you people are so going to read it and understand how much awesomeness that was the book. Don't get me wrong, the movie was awesome in its own right, just not quite right though.
I thought the movie was based on an interesting concept, and while it was a great movie (much better than the standard Grade A shit Hollywood has pumped out over the past few years), I agree with you that there were parts of the movie that just didn't seem right, especially within regards to V and his relationship with Natalie Portman's character. It just seemed to me that the character V of the movie had so much potential, yet they flattened him by trying to make him this archetypal hero.
