The first one to ask them outright about her place in the wedding party was Rachel. She’d managed to wait six days after their announcement and Official Changing of the Facebook Relationship Status before she couldn’t hold the question in any longer, and she told Kurt exactly that as they sat at the island in Kurt and Blaine’s kitchen, poring over a book of centerpiece ideas.
“I’m sorry, Kurt, but I’m just so excited! You have to tell me.”
Kurt laughed. “We’ve been engaged less than a week, Rachel. You’ve got to give us some time to work things out so we don’t make any decisions prematurely.”
“But the wedding party!” she insisted. “It’s only, like, the single most important part of planning your wedding. You need a maid of honor who’s not afraid of taking charge to take some of the strain off of you. All of the experts say it’s the very first thing you should do.”
“If it’s that important, shouldn’t we take our time with it, make sure we do it right?” Kurt shook his head lovingly at his friend. He knew her intentions were good, but he and Blaine still weren’t ready to make the decision yet. They were still working out pairing groomsmaids and groomsmen together, and since both of them would have both men and women on their respective sides of the aisle, it was getting a little tricky. “I promise you, you have a space in the wedding party.”
Rachel perked up. “ I do?” she asked, and the only reason he knew she wasn’t genuinely shocked was that he knew just how good of an actress she could be.
“Yes, and I’ll let you know our maid of honor decision as soon as we’ve made it,” he said, smiling indulgently before pointing to one of the pictures in the book in front of them. “Now, what do you think? Mirrors underneath the centerpiece: romantic or tacky?”
“Definitely romantic! And paired with something like this…”

Santana and Brittany cornered them next - literally cornered them; they backed them into a corner at Callbacks - and Kurt wasn’t really prepared for the conversation.
“We’re invited to your wedding this time, right?” Brittany asked, her eyes shining like she was close to tears.
Blaine blinked while Kurt stared at her in confusion. “This time?” Blaine asked, finding his voice before Kurt.
“We only just got engaged last week, Britt,” Kurt added.
“No, you’re definitely already married,” she replied, nodding decisively. “And you eloped or something, because I asked everyone, and no one remembers you two getting married.”
“That’s because we’re not mar-“
“Why do you think we’re already married, Britt?” Blaine cut him off, and it was probably a good thing because Santana shot him a dirty look, wrapping her arm protectively around her girlfriend’s waist.
Brittany tilted her head to the side, looking them over in a way that made Kurt a little uncomfortable. “The last time we were all out together, you told that guy that Blaine was your husband and that he may look cute and cuddly but he gets very scary when he thinks someone’s hitting on you.”
A light bulb flickered on in Kurt’s head, and he could see recognition dawn on Blaine’s features. He decided to stay quiet and let Blaine handle this so as not to risk the wrath of Santana.
“Oh, Britt,” he said, reaching out to grab her hands. “Kurt was just telling a little white lie. He didn’t want to deal with that idiot hitting on him, and he figured husband was a better deterrent than boyfriend.”
Santana nodded in agreement, and it was that that made Britt believe him. “So you’re really not married?”
“Really not married,” Kurt confirmed, and Brittany jumped up and down, clapping in excitement.
“Alright then, Gay William and Kate,” Santana said, looking them both in the eye. “We want in.”
“In?” Kurt asked, narrowing his eyes in suspicion.
“In the wedding.” Kurt opened his mouth to shut her down - they still hadn’t worked out all of the details of the wedding party yet - but she cut him off. “You wouldn’t be here without the Bullywhips-” Kurt snorted in disbelief “-or Britt’s help when you wanted to try out the ladies.”
Brittany nodded enthusiastically. “I want to wear a pretty dress!”
Blaine reached out for Kurt’s hand and squeezed it gently, a silent request to stay calm and let him take care of it.
“Santana, Brittany,” he said, nodding his head at each of them in turn, and Kurt recognized his Diplomatic Dalton Student tone. “Kurt and I truly do appreciate your eagerness, but we haven’t made any decisions about the wedding party yet. We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we do.”
“I don’t think you get exactly what I’m saying, Middleton. Britts and I are going to be your groomsmaids of honor, whether you like it or not.”
“O- okay?”
“Okay,” Santana said, her tone brooking no arguments. She stared them down for what felt like twenty minutes before grabbing her girlfriend’s hand and waving at them with the other. “See you later, boys.”

The next morning, Blaine met up with Tina at Panera for their weekly brunch. Kurt usually joined them, but he had woken up with a pretty nasty hangover and had decided to stay home in bed.
She waited until they were both finished with their food to ask what she’d obviously been dying to bring up the rest of the morning. “So how are the wedding preparations coming?”
“Good,” Blaine said, nodding slightly as he sipped at his coffee. “We’re still in the early stages of just about anything. I don’t think we’ve actually made a single decision yet, but we’ve found a lot of options we like.”
“So that means you haven’t chosen your maid of honor yet? Or the rest of your wedding party?”
Blaine groaned inwardly. First Rachel, then Santana and Brittany, and now Tina? They’d have to figure this out soon if they didn’t want, like, Lauren Zizes and Becky Jackson coming out of the woodwork, too. “Nope,” he said, trying to keep his voice light. “Everyone’s been together in so many different combinations, we’re trying to figure out a way to have everyone in the wedding party and matched up in a way that both makes sense and won’t make things awkward for any of us.”
Tina nodded in understanding, swirling her stirring stick in her coffee cup. “That has to be complicated,” she said. “You do know that I’m more than willing to take on anything you need me to do, right?”
“I know,” Blaine said, smiling kindly at her. “I’m sure we’ll need your expert advice for all of our fashion choices. Kurt will be too busy worrying to think clearly, and we both know yours is the only opinion he’ll trust.”
“Great. Your wedding is going to be the most fabulous one this century.” She purposely sidestepped the maid of honor issue, knowing that Blaine knew exactly what she had meant. They both knew they were on the same page.
“I wouldn’t expect anything less.”

The next incident happened at a pretty inopportune time.
“God, Blaine, you look beautiful.”
A flush crept onto Blaine’s face, but he made no move to cover himself. Kurt was kneeling, naked, at the foot of the bed (personally, Blaine thought Kurt was the more beautiful one), his eyes raking over his fiancé’s near-naked form in front of him.
Blaine simply lay there and watched Kurt’s expression as his eyes travelled lower, starting at his collar bone and slowly working their way down past his nipples, past his abdomen, and down that trimmed patch of hair that led to the only item of clothing left on his body. Kurt reached out almost reverently and ran his fingers along the red lace of the panties, groaning at the sight of Blaine’s cock twitching from within its confine.
It was such an incongruous sight, Blaine’s very masculine form, all muscles and flatness, contained in something so flirty and feminine. They both loved it - Kurt for the visual appeal and Blaine for the way it made him feel pretty and a bit naughty.
Kurt bent over, kissing a trail that followed the path his eyes had taken. Blaine closed his own eyes once his fiancé’s face was obscured, allowing himself to get lost in sensation. He had just pressed a kiss to the tip of Blaine’s cock through the panties when -
“Whoa, dudes! Kinky!”
Kurt squeaked and rolled off the opposite edge of the bed from the doorway, and Blaine yanked the comforter a few times until he was satisfied that he’d managed to cover himself up. He glanced over at the doorway, his face a deep crimson.
“Don’t stop on account of me,” Puck said, leaning against the doorframe.
Blaine stared back at him, his mouth open in shock and unable to form words. Kurt’s head peeked up from the other side of the bed. “No, I think we will stop, but thank you for your input, Noah.”
Blaine nodded in agreement. “What are you doing here?” he asked, finally finding his voice. “How did you even get in?”
“Stole Finn’s spare key this morning,” he said, tossing it up in the air and catching it one handed. “And I came to talk about your wedding, dudes.”
“Great,” Kurt bit out, and Blaine could already tell he was planning on ways to kill his stepbrother. “Mind going to the living room so we can maybe get dressed first?”
Puck shook his head. “No need, dudes. I’ll be quick, and then you can get right back to what you were doing.”
Kurt and Blaine exchanged a look. Was it better to argue and make things more awkward or to let Puck get his way and hope that it really would be quick? Blaine sighed. “You’ve got two minutes, and you’re leaving that key here.”
“Fine,” Puck said, walking into the room and setting the key down on the nightstand - right next to their lube. Wonderful.
“Tick tock, Noah.”
Puck rolled his eyes at Kurt and sat down on the edge of the bed. “Look, you dudes know I’ve always supported you two.” Kurt coughed, but Puck ignored him. “I’m the reason you two met in the first place. Without me, there wouldn’t even be a wedding.”
Blaine hummed in acknowledgement. Kurt glared up at him from the floor. “What’s your point, Noah?”
Puck looked between the two of them. “I wanna be your best man.”
Kurt coughed again, and Blaine sent him a glance before turning back to Puck. “We haven’t made any decisions yet, but, uh, thanks for letting us know.”
Nodding, Puck stood up again, seemingly satisfied by that answer. “Cool,” he said, heading toward the door. “I’ll just leave you two be, then. By the way, Anderson, red’s definitely your color.”

It could only get better from there, so when Sam asked if Blaine wanted to come over to catch the Ohio State game that weekend, he was prepared for anything - or so he thought.
The first thing he noticed upon walking into Sam’s apartment was a life-size cardboard cutout from their senior year of high school situated right next to the big screen TV. It had been made from a photo of the two of them in their superhero outfits, Sam’s arm around Blaine’s waist and Blaine’s across Sam’s shoulders. Their other hands were holding the Nationals trophy between them. It was more than a little frightening.
“Um, Sam,” he said, having stopped just inside the entryway. “What is that?”
“It’s us, man!” Sam said, handing over a bottle of beer. “From back at McKinley. Remember?”
“I remember,” he said slowly. “But… why do you have it?”
Sam shrugged, sitting down on the couch. “I wanted to remind you about how great of a team we make.”
Blaine followed Sam to the couch, sitting down at the other end and staring at the cutout. He had no idea where Sam could have possibly gotten it made, and it probably had to have been fairly expensive. He took a long sip of his beer. “We do make a fantastic team.”
“Cheers,” Sam said, reaching out his own bottle to tap Blaine’s on the side. “I was just thinking, since, y’know, we make such a wonderful team, I would totally be open to being your best man.”
Tipping the bottle to his mouth again, Blaine knocked back more of the beer before looking at his friend’s eager face. “Kurt and I are still figuring out details for the wedding party,” he explained. “I’ll try to let you know soon, though, okay?”
Sam’s face had fallen slightly when he wasn’t taken up on the offer immediately, but he grinned when Blaine didn’t completely shut him down. “Sounds good,” he said, then picked up the remote and pressed a few buttons until the game came on the TV.
Blaine breathed a silent sigh of relief at not being pushed further and relaxed into the couch, his attention turning to the game. Ohio State had just gotten a first down, but the image of himself and Sam a few feet to the right was a bit too distracting for him to really get into the action. It was going to be a long three hours.

“Are you sure you’re okay with this?” Kurt asked for the twenty-eighth time. “I know the two of you didn’t really start out on the right foot.”
“I’m positive, Kurt. That’s all long behind us.”
“You’re sure you’re sure?”
Blaine rolled his eyes and stood on his tiptoes so that he could kiss Kurt’s forehead. “Yes, and my answer isn’t going to change no matter how many times you ask.”
Kurt wasn’t so certain, but he decided to believe his fiancé. “Okay.”
“Okay,” Blaine repeated. “Now go ask him.”
Kurt leaned in for a quick hug before leaving Blaine in the kitchen and making his way through New York City. Twenty minutes later, he stood outside another apartment building, and he pressed the button for apartment 4.
“Hello?” came the crackled voice over the ancient speaker system a few moments later.
“It’s Kurt. Can I come up?”
“Sure thing.” There was an annoying buzz and Kurt was able to pull the outside door open.
The door to apartment 4 was already ajar when he got there. He knocked lightly and went inside.
“Hey, man. Come on in.”
“Hi,” Kurt replied, shutting the door behind him and making sure it latched. He wrinkled his nose in disgust at the amount of things lying around the apartment, but he ignored it all and went to the living room. He picked a pile of junk mail off of the armchair, looked around for a place to put it, finally settling on the floor next to the chair, and sat down.
“What’s up? There’s nothing wrong, is there? Burt-“
“He’s fine, Finn,” Kurt said, waving off his stepbrother. “But thank you for your concern.”
Finn shrugged from where he was sitting, spread out on the couch. “He’s like my dad, too. I worry about him.” Kurt smiled. “So what brings you over here? Aren’t our lunch plans for, like, Saturday or something?” He looked a bit panicked at the thought of having stood them up.
“They are,” Kurt said, biting back a laugh at Finn’s reaction. “There’s actually something I wanted to ask you, and it couldn’t wait.”
Finn scrunched his face up in confusion. “Was your phone stolen or something?”
“What?” Kurt asked, confused by the non sequitur.
“Like, you could’ve just called me or whatever so someone must have stolen your phone and you didn’t have my number. Right?” Finn looked perplexed. “But Blaine would still have my number. Were both of your phones stolen?”
Kurt shook his head. “No, we both still have our phones. I just wanted to talk to you in person.”
“Oh,” Finn said, then paused for a moment. “What’s up?”
“So Blaine and I are getting married,” Kurt started, and Finn nodded, giving him a strange look. “Finn, would you do me the honor of being my best man?”
Finn blinked. “Wh- what? Really, man?”
Kurt nodded.
“You don’t want, like, Rachel as your maid of honor or something?”
“Rachel’s my best friend,” Kurt said, “but you’re my brother. I want you to be my best man.”
“Stepbrother,” Finn muttered.
“I thought we were past all of that ‘step’ nonsense.”
“Really?” Finn asked, his voice uncertain.
“Really,” Kurt said. “What do you say, brother?”
Finn thought for a moment. “I think I’m in.”
Kurt couldn’t help but break into a wide smile. He’d been agonizing over the wedding party for what felt like years but was really only a couple days, and now the hardest decision was done with. Blaine still had to figure out his best man or maid of honor, but Kurt’s choice had just agreed. The first real decision for their wedding had been made, and Kurt felt like the rest would just fall into place.
