Thanks for the link, as always. I don't like to act like I know things (because it's physics, and I know physics like I know about alien invasions, which means nothing) but at least, if we could call ourselves educated, spot a misgiving when you see one?

Yeah, exactly. There's a lot of misinformation floating around, and it's always good to get it cleared up where we can.

Yeah, I knew we weren't in any severe danger like the media was trying to imply. If the folks in Japan are saying 'it's cool for now', I'm going to take their word for it.

Yeah. Things got pretty rough for a little while this week, but it's looking like they're getting things under control now.

Thank you for this! I'm going to Japan next month and I've had several people ask me daily if I'm still going due to all they've been hearing on the news.

My dad gave me this link: http://hps.org/ The right-hand column has some things on the Japanese nuclear power plant, and it's what he's been giving out to his students, and what my mother's been giving out to the people who call in to the Red Cross.

He's a nuclear physicist, so he's always the one I call when the media starts getting all fearmonger-y about nuclear physics.
