This is not a defence of Andy Roddick but a defence of myself.

Let’s get one thing straight. If I watched tennis for good behaviour, I'd have a very different set of favourite players.

A lot has been said about Andy Roddick’s meltdown over the footfaults. I’m not saying it was okay. It wasn’t his finest moment, and there have been a lot of not-fine moments over the years, but you know what, I don’t care. If I ( Read more... )

omg this.

Mostly that last few parts.

It's true in every sport for me. I don't want some guy standing there throwing out passive shit and bowing down to ridiculous class. Show me that you care because if you don't care, I'm not going to care.

I mean I don't like that it gives them a bad rep off the court but whatever I'm not here to be bffs anyway I want to watch you play.

That wasn't even one of Andy's worse meltdowns. If you're shocked and applauded by his behavior go watch golf.

Exactly. Most of the people calling him out are hypocrites anyway because Tipsy has been *way* more of a dick, and off court too. And I don't even care - I want to watch them play tennis, not run for president.

I mean legit point aside Janko is an ass ten million ways.

People just like to call Andy one. If he wasn't getting piss off on court I'd worry about him.

This 1000 %. What Andy did wasn't right, but I honestly don't care. Looking back at the players I've always loved (Hewitt, Roddick, Safin, Murray, Djokovic, etc) they've always had an edge about them (well, maybe not so much Novak these days) and they've never backed down in any match they've played. Hewitt is pretty much considered a racist basterd, but damn, the guy never ever stops fighting and that's why I love him and everyone else. It's what makes the sport for me.

Exactly - I mean, I can see Rafa wants it as badly as the next guy, but the way he wants it makes it that little less exciting to me ;) Although I wouldn't call Lley a favourite, I definitely admire his never-say-die attitude and fighting spirit (CAWM AWWWWWWN! \o/0
