Men of the Year 2005 // (25-01)

Dec 28, 2005 11:55

If you missed the first have of the list, you can see MEN 50-26 RIGHT HERE.

Anyway, here's the rest.

#25 // Conan O'Brien
There's no year that's a bad year for loving Conan O'Brien. His genius knows no bounds. I can't wait for his hilarious New Years for the Central Time Zone. Even if I'm not home, I always tape it. I'll miss that when he takes over The Tonight Show in '09.

#24 // Mandy Patinkin
I adored him as Rube on Dead Like Me, and am currently loving him on his new show, Criminal Minds. Too bad it's in the same damn timeslot as Lost and VM.

#23 // Kevin Weisman
Marshall! He's what makes Alias for me. He's the only reason I've stuck with it.

#22 // Callum Blue
I fell in love with him as Mason on Dead Like Me this year, even if he creepily reminds me of Glenn Quinn a little too much at times. And I'm also watching him on his new show, Related. Which he's just as adorable on.

#21 // Brian Austin Green
Talk about a man that had to grow into his looks. He's great on Freddie. Yes, I'm watching it DESPITE the fact that FPJ is the lead. BAG makes the damn show - he's so hilarious!

#20 // Scott Patterson
Still the best thing about Gilmore Girls in a rather lacking season.

#19 // Greg Grunberg
He was great on Alias. He was great on Lost. Hell, he was even great in the little bit of Felicity I tried to watch this year. I just want to pinch his cheeks, he's so damn adorable in every role I've seen him in. What a doll!

#18 // David Boreanaz
He's back and as good, or better, than ever! On Bones he really gets to show his silly, comedic side more often and it's fantastic to watch.

#17 // Bradley Cooper
I never really got the Will appeal on Alias, but man, he was AWESOME on Kitchen Confidential. He really could have made that role, and show, into something great for many seasons had it not been on fucking FOX.

#16 // Jason Lee
I thought My Name is Earl looked positively insipid from the promos. I was wrong. It's one of my favorite shows of the year, and Lee is charming as hell as our plucky hero. I hope Earl is around for seasons to come.

#15 // Ryan Reynolds
He has repeatedly declared all year long that he wants to play The Flash on the big screen. THE FLASH, people. You all know that'd be enough to get him on the list even if he wasn't someone I adore. It might never happen. It might happen and turn out to be the worst idea ever like other superhero projects in the past. But the fact he's so interested in my personal favorite superhero is more than enough to make me happy.

#14 // Francis Capra
I love Weevil long time. Capra is a delight on Veronica Mars, despite the fact he hasn't really been in the spotlight this season so far.

#13 // Alan Tudyk
Serenity, of course. But if pressed to answer, I really think he'll be the "biggest" name in the coming years out of the BDHs. Sure, Adam and Ron have already been around forever, but Alan has that "character actor" quality to him that I can see him being around for a very long while. You can see him in different roles and if you don't already know who he is you might never connect that it's the same man. That's pretty cool. He's attractive without being overly pretty or hot. So he probably won't be hired just to be another pretty face, which, really, almost always have expiration dates. Character actors can work forever and ever if they have talent. Which he totally does.

#12 // Adam Baldwin
Serenity. The Inside. It was a very good year to be an Adam Baldwin fan, and we all know he'll be back again and again.

#11 // Denis Leary
With Rescue Me this year he proved that it actually IS possible for an FX show to have a second season and not go *completely* batshit crazy. (I'm looking at you, Nip/Tuck.) Good for you, Mr. Leary, good for you.

#10 // John Glover
Talented, like, whoa. He's one of, if not the, best thing about Smallville. I love how charmingly evil he can be. His line deliveries are amazing. Seriously, I want my very own Magnificent Bastard. And, hey, if you have to be in the train wreck that was Batman & Robin, at least coming out of it looking the LEAST like a fool of the bunch, means you win, I guess. Heh.

#09 // Michael Rosenbaum
How did I ever live in world where Michael Rosenbaum wasn't on my radar? No one should have to live like that. Along with Glover, he makes Smallville. And I just saw Sorority Boys for the first time, and need to own that, like, yesterday. He's so versatile. Funny as hell. Great with the stotic drama. It will never not be amusing to me to see an actor that when being himself appears to have ants in his pants the way he can't hold still, yet can play someone as "straight" as this version of Lex Luthor. I just like MR's interpretation of him a lot. None of the "comic book" campiness Movie!Lex had. But MR can do that - 'cause his camped up version in "Onyx" was hilariously awesome. Anyway, love him. Can't imagine why he doesn't have way, way more work offers being thrown at his feet at all times.

#08 // Nathan Fillion
His first lead in a major movie that just happened to be Serenity. I hope this is just his starting point, because he has the great comedy/drama combo going on as well.

#07 // Kristen Bell
But...she's not a man! I know, but I adore her so much she should be a man, hehehe. She's seriously included because she's one of the few female leads, or characters at all, that I've ever truly loved. Veronica Mars rocks because of her. So she's totally a man of the year in my books.

#06 // Michael Muhney
Not only does he play a kick ass character on Veronica Mars, but he appears to be genuinely nice, funny person. So that's always a plus. I hope he is with VM for a very long time, and after that I can't wait to see him in something where he can headline. That way the man can have more photoshoots of him, because right now, there's like two HQ pics that can be used for things like this, lol.

#05 // Josh Holloway
We all know how much I love Josh Holloway from Lost. I love him. He rocks. More Sawyer.

#04 // Jensen Ackles
Last year at this time he would have made a list of mine, for sure, but it would have been my "Must Avoid" one. I hated him, found him fugly, and thought he sucked as an actor. Then here came Supernatural. He's amazing. He's hot. He's talented. I was wrong. Sorry, Jensen Ackles. Now, more of you, please.

#03 // Hugh Laurie
He's so the man. He's gorgeous. He's very talented. And House is quality programming. You can't really get any better than that.

#02 // Matthew Fox
Guh. Just guh. There's nothing I can say about Foxy that you all don't already know. Just bask in the hottness and think about the talent. And the MANGIGGLE. The mangiggle alone would put him on the list, heh.

#01 // Joss Whedon
This was the year of the Whedon. Serenity was released. The Serenity comic books. He praised, and then did a guest spot on my beloved Veronica Mars. I read Fray. He got Wonder Woman. Announced Goners. He's a genius and I love him. In my books, he was the only clear choice for man of the year.

That's it! Thanks for reading along. :)
