You guys are ALWAYS so sweet about the photographs I post, and I've been asked a few questions from time-to-time, so I thought I do a little informative post, with the little I know about the topic. I'm not a professional - not by a long shot - but I figured I could tell you what I have figured out, and if that's helpful, great.

Excellent tips! Am adding to memories for when I can afford to buy a proper digital camera instead of the cheap one that came with the computer.

Very nice. All the talk of aperature and shutter speed is seriously making me miss using my Rebel. But film, eh. Me needs a Digital Rebel. I keep saying that, and then I keep not saving my money so I can buy one. Boo, lol.

That was freaking awesome! Thanks for taking the time to do this...

Right now I'm using the Canon Powershot SD700 IS so no aperture :( Boo! But I'm definitely adding this to memories and taking you up on the advice to read the manual *sheepish grin*

the camera I've got now is a Kodak EasyShare CX7330 so most of the time you have to play around to get a desired effect (i.e. no way to really fiddle with aperture so you have to zoom in and out until you get the effect you like/no shutter speed control so you switch the flash off and...move) but am saving for the scarily priced Canon EOS 350D

...my point? Yeah if ever I get that, I will read this, read the manual and may well check out that book you recommended :D very informative--thanks :)

It's a digital camera - the cost is behind you now, no more buying film - so dammit, why aren't you using it? If they're bad, delete 'em. If they're duplicates, delete 'em. But if you don't snap away, you'll never get anything.

Argh, that's my problem - I keep forgetting to use my camera! Must must must carry it more often! And I must read the manual properly, because I'm ashamed to say I haven't, and I can never remember what everything is for!
