Men of the Year 2008 // (25-01)

Dec 27, 2008 19:47

Here's the rest of my picks for the Top 50 Men of 2008.

Previous entries HERE.

#25 // Jared Padalecki
Last Year // #20 (Change -5)
Previous Rankings // 2006; #18 & 2005; #30
And You Are?: Sam Winchester on Supernatural.
Why?: Because he lost his shoe. (Okay, that was in '07, but it still makes me giggle, so sue me.)

#24 // James Van Der Beek
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Simon on How I Met Your Mother.
Why?: I hate you, Dawson Leery! Okay, now that that's out of my system, The Beek proved to me in '08 that he actually has a sense of humor. I saw his eps of HIMYM & OTH and liked that he didn't have trouble mocking himself. Then I saw his eps of Criminal Minds and was actually a bit impressed. Still. Die, Dawson, Die! Okay, I feel less dirty now, putting The Beek on the list.

#23 // Ed Westwick
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Chuck Bass on Gossip Girl.
Why?: I'm Chuck Bass, that's why.

#22 // Josh Radnor
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Ted Mosby on How I Met Your Mother.
Why?: It's hard being the straight man in comedy sometimes, but Radnor's Ted has grown on me SO much in the past year. I've never really hated Ted, but it was often hard to see him shine with NPH and Segel acting beside him.

#21 // Enrico Colantoni
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // 2006; #26 & 2005; #43
And You Are?: Sgt. Gregory Parker on Flashpoint.
Why?: Welcome back to TV! I've missed his Keith Mars, and I'm glad to see him back on a show I actually like.

#20 // Jason Segel
Last Year // #17 (Change -3)
Previous Rankings // 2005; #49
And You Are?: Marshall Eriksen on How I Met Your Mother.
Why?: Thank God he finally got a haircut. Oh, and he's funny as hell.

#19 // Adam Baldwin
Last Year // #16 (Change -3)
Previous Rankings // 2006; #34 & 2005; #12
And You Are?: John Casey on Chuck.
Why?: Casey likes Chuck! Really, what else can I say about Baldwin that you don't already know?

#18 // Eric Dane
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Dr. Mark Sloan on Grey's Anatomy.
Why?: I hated Sloan when he was introduced and now he's one of the most tolerable characters left. Go figure. He still looks like what would happen if a friend of mine mated with a lion. Don't ask. I don't know why, but my best friend agrees, adding, "And it's not like it COULDN'T happen, knowing him."

#17 // Zachary Levi
Last Year // #13 (Change -4)
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Chuck Bartowski on Chuck.
Why?: Levi makes Chuck so adorable.

#16 // Justin Chambers
Last Year // #04 (Change -12)
Previous Rankings // 2006; #06
And You Are?: Dr. Alex Karev on Grey's Anatomy.
Why?: I *heart* Alex. I hate that he's gotten mostly shitty storylines as of late.

#15 // Christian Kane
Last Year // #03 (Change -12)
Previous Rankings // 2006; #07 & 2005; #27
And You Are?: Eliot Spencer on Leverage.
Why?: I adore Christian Kane. I do. I'm digging Leverage and am glad to see him on television again. But this year I've been a little short on tolerance to him at times. PS: Stop flat-ironing your hair. It's creepy.

#14 // Denis Leary
Last Year // #26 (Change +12)
Previous Rankings // 2006; #12 & 2005; #11
And You Are?: Tommy Gavin on Rescue Me.
Why?: It was awesome of Leary to do the RM minisodes this year since the strike pushed the season back into '09.

#13 // Kyle Chandler
Last Year // #08 (Change -5)
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Coach Taylor on Friday Night Lights
Why?: Because his AND his hair are awesome on FNL. I also started watching old eps of Early Edition this year, and he was great in them too.

#12 // Taylor Kitsch
Last Year // #19 (Change +7)
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Tim Riggins on Friday Night Lights.
Why?: Riggins is a damn great character.

#11 // Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Last Year // #10 (Change -1)
Previous Rankings // 2006; #05
And You Are?: William on P.S. I Love You; Denny on Grey's Anatomy
Why?: I *heart* JDM. He's charming and adorable. But really. Dead!Denny? Again? His dead self should mosey on back to SPN, if we're rising from the dead.

#10 // Matthew Fox
Last Year // #12 (Change +2)
Previous Rankings // 2006; #03 & 2005; #02
And You Are?: Jack on Lost.
Why?: Oh, Lost, I started tentatively loving you again this year. Please keep it up, show and Foxy.

#09 // Joshua Jackson
Last Year // None
Previous Rankings // 2005; #46
And You Are?: Peter Bishop on Fringe.
Why?: Welcome back to television, Pacey Witter! Er, I mean, Josh Jackson. It's great to have part of my first fandom back in a new series that I actually like.

#08 // Nelsan Ellis
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Lafayette Reynolds on True Blood.
Why?: I remember Ellis from the short-lived drama The Inside and I just thought I liked him in that. This? OMG. Ellis was nothing short of brilliant on TB this season. Damn.

#07 // Matthew Gray Gubler
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Dr. Spencer Reid on Criminal Minds.
Why?: I finally got caught up on, oh, about four seasons worth of Criminal Minds this fall and fell in love with the show - and Gubler's Reid all over again.

#06 // Jim Parsons
Last Year // #37 (Change +31)
Previous Rankings // None
And You Are?: Dr. Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory
Why?: Oh, Sheldon. Parsons is brilliant in this role. And the showrunners KNOW it. Please don't turn him into the Urkle, though. It's not the Sheldon show. (Even if that's a really good program, in it's own right.) He may be the best character, but it's funniest when the whole ensemble is in on the joke.

#05 // TJ Thyne
Last Year // #06 (Change +1)
Previous Rankings // 2006; #35
And You Are?: Hodgins on Bones.
Why?: Hodgins is my favorite character on Bones, even if TPTB are effing up the flow of his storyline now.

#04 // Neil Patrick Harris
Last Year // #05 (Change +1)
Previous Rankings // 2006; #19 & 2005; #35
And You Are?: Barney on How I Met Your Mother & Billy/Dr. Horrible on Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog.
Why?: NPH is Legen - wait for it - dary. The end.

#03 // Brian Austin Green
Last Year // Not Ranked
Previous Rankings // 2005; #21
And You Are?: Derek Reese on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Why?: I was a little embarrassed when I dug him on Freddie, but with TSSC, he's proved he's worth the praise. Oh, David Silver, I can't even believe that's you.

#02 // Jensen Ackles
Last Year // #02 (No Change)
Previous Rankings // 2006; #01 & 2005; #04
And You Are?: Dean Winchester on Supernatural
Why?: Dean is still at the top of my fictional character list.

#01 // Steve Carlson
Last Year // #01 (No Change)
Previous Rankings // 2006; #02
And You Are?: A talented musician.
Why?: I got to see him perform in Orlando this year (twice!) and it was amazing as ever. His new album was wonderful. He made panties drop as he played unfair and brought out the Dirty Dancing cover of "Be My Baby" and was just an all-around awesome guy. Again. I can't wait to see where '09 takes him - and probably me to see him perform. ;)

Thanks for reading again this year, it was fun as always. :)
