Some thoughts on appearing OK

We get so good at hiding and pretending to be OK. We put on that mask and then grow fearful of what happens when we take it off that sometimes we forget how. Our fast paced society has little room for those who can't work all the time, those who need extra help. haha, I hope this doesn't have anything to do with what happened tonight...

It's true, though. A lot of people don't realize what a person sacrifices to do those things that others take for granted. Most times, that person just lets those things go because prioritization is a part of life. Like me with dinners and art, you with papers and sanity, it applies to everyone.

It's unfortunate; we can't let others know what we're giving up without seeming like whiny bitches because it translates to something like this to the listener: "well, I did this work, but I could have been skydiving instead..."

*nods* It's a very valid point -- we don't want to hear that people aren't fully functional. Mental reasoning doesn't exist. You have to work to your fullest, no matter what. *shrugs* And if you can't, you're just using the system because you're lazy. :( It's very sad. On the other hand, we regard those who are mentally or physically challenged (severely so) as less than human, which says terrible things about our society.
