It would be really nice. But I know that my boss would never go for it. Hell, if he thought he could get away with it, he'd probably try to make us work 7 days a week!

I actually used to do this. I think it's a great idea! I loved having three days off, and didn't care if they were all in a row or not. To be honest, work two, off one, work two, off two was a great way to break up the week sometimes. I worked 10 hour days (no lunch break, but I ate lunch at my desk) and while those four days were a little longer, the extra day off more than made up for it.

A few other things I wish more businesses would start doing is somehow reward employees for carpooling, enable employees to telecommute, and help out somehow with finding housing closer to the office (especially for apartment dwellers).

We've been BEGGING our office to reduce paper & paper waste, without results.

When we place orders (which I do at least twice/day), each order prints SIX TIMES. And yet, I don't need a SINGLE COPY of it, as I can x.pdf the files.

So, there's about 12 sheets of paper daily being used for Naught? But they refuse to "turn off" the automatic printer.

It's INCREDIBLY frustrating.

We've FINALLY, at least, got a paper shredding company to come in for pickups. I have an ENTIRE trash can of paper each week.

Telecommuting would be WONDERFUL, but being in sales - its hard to commit to that...never here for the customer, etc.

Amazingly enough, my last company had a large portion of their sales department telecommuting, but then again, they had to travel a lot as well.

They also had implemented a recycle program for papers (not glass or cans, etc.) that was well received. Once they moved to the new building, they put in soda fountains that reduced the need for can recycling, but increased paper waste (the bad kind, of course), although quite a few people have their own cups they use, thankfully.

Better idea..shift more jobs to work from home...its not like they can't monitor if you are working.
but hell they can't grasp that wearing jeans won't make you less likely to be productive either.

If jeans make you less productive, imagine how it'd be if you were home???

Okay, so I know that if I could work from home, I'd be in my underpants most of the time, but maybe that's just me...

*wink*

I have thought that Schools need to be doing this for years...I mean, kids could go 8-5 instead of the 8-3, and they would make up the time - and parents wouldn't need a day care or sitter for after school...they would not only save on the electricity at the school, and the food, and the "support staff", but they would also not have to use the school buses...HELLO...I mean, gas prices have gone up for the schools as well...

But - change scares ppl, and well, we've been doing it this way forever, so it must be the only way to do things!
