Just the other day, while talking presidential politics with colleagues of mine, I bit my tongue when the topic of "what do you want to see in the next president" came up.

My answer would have been "respect for the rule of law" - by which I mean a rejection of this idea of a unitary executive wielding, among other things, the power to rewrite legislation by means of signing statements.

And then _this_ comes along, making me a naif as to just how far downhill we have slid.
