Being one of those half full kind of people, I'm hoping that Dodd's lack of success was not due to people failing to care about what happens to our constitutional rights - he fights the good fight.

Spent about fifteen minutes yesterday reading up on the results from the Iowa primaries. I _still_ don't understand all the nuances of the electoral system on your side of the border (although genomekelly does his best to educate me) but if everything that's under discussion hits the table, then the US will eventually recover it's international reputation - eventually, on probation and subject to good behaviour.

Recover? When have we ever had a good international reputation except at the ends of WWI and WWII? Other than that, we've most always been a bully.
