so as you may or may not know, I use a porta-potty for the bathroom. They usually clean it on Tuesdays but alas, nothing was done yesterday. I was gone all day today and hadnt used the bathroom yet, so imagine my surprise when I head to the bathroom and see we have a brand new porta-potty! Careful about the sort of wood you use.

Pallets are made of pine, which is a high creosote burning wood. Creosote builds up in chimneys and causes fires.

thanks for that info! I'm almost out of my kindling...it goes FAST...but I'll keep it in mind for my future scrounging. Heh.

Call around to all the local tree care companies. A lot of them have wood they'll either give away or sell dirt cheap, depending. Especially if you look cutely at them. :) Also, check Craigslist, a lot of people give away wood.

the wood thing I dont have a problem with, a friend of mine is a lumberjack...its the kindling thing Imma have troubles with. mebbe I'll just make all mah guy friends split kindling for me.

I basically live in a shed. I have electricity, leach internets and have cold running water. I use a porta potty for my bathroom time, and for showers i go to the neighbors and if they weren't there, I'd go to the boat yard. And the rent is still cheaper than if I had a roommate, and I still dont know if I'll be able to afford to live this winter. YAY!

I lead a charmed life.
