Narrating Audiobooks: My Year at Tantor 2015/16

Dec 03, 2015 15:29

I have not yet been a full year at Tantor. Not till next April!

But I recently had cause (like, just now) to complete my Discography (for an interview), which includes some books that aren't even recorded yet (complete with hyperlinks), so I thought I'd better make it a full year.

Amish. Romance. I had no idea such a thing existed. There are so many of them!

They are everywhere. Hugely popular. The Amish, of course, do not read them. Or if they do, I can only imagine it would upset them. But Romance readers tend to love them because they are very courteous, and chivalrous, and simple things and gentle gestures are the stuff of great romance.

Amish, courteous and chivalrous. Two great tastes that I never dreamed would go together! I think I'll go have some peanut butter and chocolate now.

Wow! I bet that makes a change from the acquarium. And you have such great vocal skills, it's lovely that you get to use them and be paid for it.

I too am fascinated at the revelation that there are Amish romances, though I don't suppose it should surprise anybody.

It is the best, most beautiful, most PERFECT change, and I've been sort of terrified all year that it will just suddenly vanish as quickly as it appeared! But I have contracts through next April. And that gives me hope.

What a marvelous [and sizable] collection! And since I love hearing you perform, I'd kind of like to hear one. What one do you recommend for listening--one where you get to really shine?

I can only recommend books I think people might actually LIKE, rather than where I think I shine particularly. One of my best books for VOICES was a certain book I cannot actually in good conscious recommend to anyone, though I had a lot of fun doing it ( ... )

Excellent--thank you, sweet Claire! I probably won't make a purchase until after Christmas, seeing as right now I should be buying things for other people, but it's going to be SO FUN to hear you.

BTW, I put Dido in Effigy on a mix CD for my dad, and he really loves it.
