"The Doctor is dead." Does that give anyone else the shivers?
No, because I know he's not. Now if it was in the very last episode and we didn't know who was playing the Doctor next season, I'd be chilled...
Donna with something on her back, something… insecty? Maybe? I don’t know what other people think it is.
According to some tabloid spoiler or other that someone mentioned to me recently, it's a beetle...
"You’re going to die." Why does that make me think Donna isn’t going to die? Something bad is going to happen to her or her family, definitely, but I think it’s going to be more along the lines of forgetting the Doctor ever existed. DO NOT WANT. I want Donna to live, and even if she doesn’t travel with the Doctor permanently, then at least meet up with him occasionally. *sob* I've been saying for ages that Donna'll end up Retconned, rather than dead. It's one thing to kill off a not-quite-Companion whom we barely know (Astrid), but it's quite something else to kill of a full time Companion whom we've known and had time to love
( ... )
I agree, Donna wont die, they wouldnt kill a compaion RTD said it in the Doomsday Confidential when speaking about Rose not dying. "It was never our intention to kill a companion" he was laughing when he said it.
The beginning bit - so domestic. The Doctor and Donna just seem to fit, you know? In another show, you can just imagine them playing husband and wife. “I’ll be back by dinner.” And the affectionate look the Doctor has when Donna’s fussing over how it’s not a date. Yes THANK YOU RTD. We know Donna’s doomed, the Doctor’s found his soul mate and you’re going to tear them apart because you want the Doctor to suffer as much as possible because you’re a sadistic bastard.
But I just love how he does it time and time again so well.
Don't get me wrong, I love the angst. it's always well written and always well acted. it's just, thinking of the actual character of the Doctor, I'm often left thinking "Bloody hell, give the poor guy a break, will you?"
Oh, so much word. I'm dreading the season finale, because I have this sick feeling that even though Donna's leaving the Doctor, it's still all going to be about Rose. If this is also Billie Piper's DW swan-song, then I can't see Catherine getting the send-off she deserves.
OTOH, I'm hoping that there's a chance for her to return full-time in 2010; just because she says she's only signed on for one series *now*... *bg* She's been such a hit that it would be foolish not to invite her back.
I have such bad feelings about future Who, I have to say.
Maybe if everyone wrote her a letter begging her to come back, and every one wrote the powers that be a letter begging them to invite her back, she would reconsider.

And because she's not Rose, and he can't bear to see the Doctor happy with someone who isn't Rose. If he's going to have a soul-mate, I want it to be Donna [tho I think Sarah Jane's in there too! :¬)], for all kinds of reasons - but I can't see RTD allowing anyone but Rose to be the Doctor's SM. :¬(
Urgh, tell me about it. I hate to generalise but it seems RTD is on the side of the Rosefen who hated River Song because they couldn't bear the thought of the Doctor being happy with someone else.
Donna is made for the Doctor. IMHO he's got closer to her than he has with any of his companions (in NewWho)
The Doctor starts shouting about how clever he is, and this is the wonderful bit, no one is awed or shocked into silence. If anything, they distrust him more, start saying he’s in league with her. You can tell this is a shock for the Doctor, he’s used to people shutting up and obeying orders when he says his “I’m brilliant” speech. But not this time, because these humans are scared and hysterical and too mouthy for their own good.
When the doctor got everyone to move back, did he say something along the lines that he didn't want the monster to get into anyone else, like him because that would be incredibly bad?
That ties in with somethings that people have been saying about last week's episode; that the Doctor is this very powerful being, and he is in someway quite scared at how much power he has.
Yet another feature of the fact that the Doctor hides his name. That, I think, has become the theme of the season, more than planets disappearing and the Shadow Proclomation.

Yeah, and the woman says something like "Oh, because you're so special" and he's like, "Yup, I'm a genius...etc" I think the Doctor is often scared of how much power he has, like in HN/FoB.

*nods* Which we now know is hidden in the medusa Cascade, which has also been mentioned several times across the series. Which makes me wonder where this is all going. If anywhere.
