First Year of Teaching

I have officially survived my first year of teaching! Woot! It's flown by, but it's been very stressful and trying, and sometimes I even wondered what I was doing in the classroom.  But at the end of the year, when the test scores came in, and the hugs were given, it was all worth it because I know I did my job to the best of my ability and I ( Read more... )

My mom was super excited to find out that one of her kids had the highest score out of the school on the reading portion of the test. Only 2 out of 50ish kids didn't pass. Not bad for a former music teacher.

Yeah, that's awesome! I'm not sure if I had any of the highest scores. But I had 100% pass the reading part. I have one child who was supposed to be screened for special ed but they never came to get her (gotta love the education system) and even she passed! She can hardly read anything. I only had 3 fail the math part...two of whom are my EIP students and I knew they would fail. The other one surprised me but only failed by 5 points. One of my teacher friends had 7 fail. I was very proud of myself.
