The patrol units arrive there moments later, sirens going off as the paramedics file into the house. As Brass climbs out of the car, slamming the door behind him amid the wailing and flashing of red lights, a stretcher is pulled down the front steps--followed by a crying, shivering little girl.
Grissom and Sara arrive seconds after the patrol units. Oh god, no he dimly hears Sara saying, her arms opening when Lindsey runs over to them. Hush, hush she whispers softly, you're safe now, you're safe.
Gil feels blood pounding in his ears. "Jim! Is she..." he can't finish the word.
"The paramedics say not yet," Brass says hoarsely, staring after the stretcher as it's loaded up onto the ambulance. There's a lot of blood on that stretcher, and a lot of gauze, and a lot of tense faces hovering above it. "They're taking her to triage at Desert Springs, they asked me to contact any of her relatives..."
Lindsey is sobbing into Sara's arms, clinging hard to her, unable to say a word.

"Call Brass--tell him to get patrol units to Catherine's place STAT," he tells her, seeing that her phone is already out.
God help you if she's dead, you son of a bitch.
