He fishes his phone out, setting down the report he had been trying to read.

"Grissom."

[csi_catherine]

"Hello? Mr. Grissom?" The voice crackles, broken up by static. "I'm sorry, I'm getting out of the hospital--" and it clears. "Hello?"

"Sharon?" He has spoken to Catherine's mother several times before.

"Has there been a setback?" His voice is carefully controlled.

[csi_catherine]

"Yes..." The voice quivers, holds steady. "Yes, they said--something about the heart surgery, the valves near her heart, it went wrong, and they have to correct it, and..." It's rambling now, very close to tears.
