I can't even believe you're eating Oreos in the middle of the bush. Too funny. Some things never change. My sister and my brother-in-law were in Zaire in the Peace Corps years ago, and they taught English to young students who were so hungry to learn things. I was in college, and she would send me letters constantly (that were often censored before they got in or out of Zaire.) She told me that one day in class, soldiers came and took the young boys and went off with them, and they were never to return. If they'd gone to the students' homes, family would have hidden the boys, but at school, they were not protected. To this day, I often think of those boys in a different land, and wonder what ever became of them. Your notes reminded me of what she told me. We take for granted what things we have in the US...

Your work sounds fascinating, Jen!
