We promised Bond we'd do pumpkins this weekend. When we went to get the pumpkins, he was alternately delighted by them, and terrified of them. We're not entirely sure why - these were uncarved pumpkins, and he decided they scared him. "Scares you, scares you", he kept saying. Huh ( Read more... )

Vaseline on the cut edges will help keep a pumpkin from shrinking & shriveling too much before Halloween.

Today, Bond keeps walking up to the jack-o-lanterns and saying "Beeg, BEEG punkings! I nuggle them . . .I kiss . . .it's BEEG!" I wish I knew what it was about the blank pumpkins that terrified him, where glowing pumpkins with eyes are something to be cuddled. Sometimes i don't get my kid.

Pumpkins have to be lobotomized before they are safe to approach.

thanks for the Vaseline advice - I had never heard that before. Shall annoint the lobotomized vegetable this very evening! :-)
