OK, the name "Haxo Angmark" just screams Jack Vance to me, but you already had a Vance listed.

I can give up #5 and #15; they ring no bells, nor even chimes.

Incidentally, it occurs to me that both Master Frodo and Lina probably also show up in (I think it was) Carpe Diem, subsequent to Priscilla's near-fatal attempt to contact Val Con from Dutiful Passage.

You're right that it's Vance.

I know you've read #15.

And good point re Carpe Diem -- noted.

OK, if I've read #15, and it won Hugo/Nebula/Locus (now that I see the hints up there), I'll guess Ursula K. Le Guin. The Dispossessed?

As for the Vance, arrrgggggh. Nebula? I begin to suspect that it's "The Last Castle", which I have actually (mea culpa) never read.

Oh argh, I must apologize. #2 did not, in fact, win a Nebula -- the only Nebula that Vance actually won was for "The Last Castle," and this ain't it.

Using a relative numbering instead of an absolute numbering is very confusing...

I don't think it's relative. I believe ctate just erased the numbers for the ones that people already got. E.g., the first line is still #1; there's just no numeral there anymore to tell you so.

Okay, I put back the numbers for the already-guessed entries, and added some padding to try to help distinguish the entries in the face of miscellaneous line wrapping. Better?

well, fuck, since no-one else has claimed it, #10 is pretty much my favorite book of all time: The Lathe Of Heaven (Le Guin)

(the BBC version was pretty good, if a little mist-shrouded)
