WTF, Honda

My 2006 Civic 4-door automatic is getting up towards 70k total miles, and while in many ways I'm as happy with it as I was with the 1997 version that preceded it, I've become aware of a few problems. Worse: as far as I can tell these are not problems with my specific vehicle, but inherent design flaws with the model. Feh!

now I have to go look at #1 and #3 on my Civic. It's 1991, and #3 sounds familiar. I will ask the tall drivers in the family about #4 :) But it sounds like these design issues have been around for a long time...

We used to have the same water-storage trunk-tipping problem. In our case, the water was visibly collecting in the left-side rear light compartment.

I fixed it by liberally applying duct tape to the back of the light fixture, which blocked the holes the water was pouring out of. This is good, because my next step was going to be to drill small holes in the bottom of the light fixture, to enable the water to drain out as fast as it entered.
