I go a community college, and can barely afford it as it is. This fall semester was my first semester. I'm having a real hard time coming up with money for the spring, so I'm real stressed.

An increase would definetly not be a good thing.

Can I ask some rather personal questions? (Don't feel obligated to answer.)

Are you paying entirely out-of-pocket, or do you receive aid? How many credits are you taking? Do you think the cost of textbooks is a major contributor to your inability to pay?

If it does go up, what would a reasonable increase for you be? Like, if you had no other choice but to watch it go up, what would you do?

No problem! :)

Let's see... For the fall semester, I did pay out-of-pocket. The Financial Aid office requested for social security card, but I didn't have it, and thus couldn't get financial aid for the semester. Plus, I have no idea about loans, so it's difficult for me.

I'm taking four classes, a total of 12 credits. I am a full-time student. I think the cost of texts is completely ridiculous. If you lost a text in high school, they ranged from forty to sixty bucks to pay back. They jack it up just because they're 'college' textbooks. So the cost of texts is definetly a factor.

As for an increase... I have no idea what reasonable would be. But I'd have no choice but to pay it because I have to get a college education. I do not want to be in a dead-end job the rest of my life, you know?

I hope this helps you. Are you writing a paper or something?
