What the hell is all this crap that has invaded my mailbox? And why were Google posting information about me on a publicly accessible url that I didn't authorise them to share.

Who's a good webmail provider these days? (Who am I kidding? I'm too reliant on them.)

This is why I run my own mailservers, and only use gmail for stuff I don't care about.

From fishrgreat via twitter. I don't know the answer to any of your questions I'm afraid. I wish websites would learn to share, this should certainly be something that google told us about and encouraged us to use rather than assuming that we were all fed up with facebook, twitter, lj and other social networking sites.

But it's ok because google aren't evil...

Yes, that pretty much sums up my issues.

The thing is, that the application itself looks like something I might try out. They just need to give me the choice, and provide the necessary privacy controls.
