Portland is a very good place to turn 21 in. From gay strip bars with terrible porno on way too many teevees to classy piano bars all within walking distance, I couldn't have been happier on Friday when I went out with MJ and company ( Read more... )

Sounds like you had a lotta fun!

You might dig Embers on a Wednesday. They do goth/industrial stuff. Wednesdays at Brigg is a goth/industrial/synthpop/indie/etc. night. Pretty fun.

I'll have to coax someone into going with me; I'm in the special phase where just about anything sounds like a good time. I guess evolving out of 'theres nothing open past 10' does that to everyone.

embers is like an alternate universe to me. going there for your birthday is a pointless but entertaining bout of nostalgia; it's like visiting a gay bar as it would have been 21 years ago, much akin to getting the shrinkwrapped newspaper from the day of your birth.

funny that you were there on Friday. i performed there saturday.

i am couting down the next six months until the big two-one. i am the last unicorn. and by unicorn i mean minor amongst my greater friends group.

Yeah, I know how you feel, Mr. Unicorn. Sitting outside of work on a Friday night; " what are you guys doing?" "Oh, we're going to (fill in the blank) with (fill in the rest of my friends)... want to come? OH... wait, nevermind. Sorry! I can't wait until you're 21!"

Gah. At least that's over with. Sad I missed you! I would have come if only I had but known... tear.
