Michael Jackson

Here in America, we have been listening to the talk on the death of Michael Jackson almost non-stop. While yes this is important to his many fans, I really don't think it should have gotten this much media attention. My friend forwarded me this email written by a young man serving his third tour of duty in Iraq. He states the honest truth.

I understand and respect the soldiers bitterness, but I respectfully disagree. Many Americans are angered by the way this war is being administered. Hell, every time we have politicians run a war, good men die. We have Memorial Day that honors those that fell in battle to protect our way of life. We have Veterans Day to celebrate those who have served our country. We have memorials and moments of silence for those who have fallen in Irag/Afghanistan. Half the speeches in congress extoll the plight of the soldiers in Iraq (rightfully so). I have seen celebrations organized when men return from the Gulf. Just because some people decide to also mourn the loss of an entertainer DOES NOT mean that we think any less of the troops. Hell, that is part of what the troops are fighting for, for Americans to be able to do what we please in life. so if some Americans took their free time to mourn Michael, well that was their rights and I will stand up for their right with my dying breathe. Are we not allowed to mourn someone when there is ( ... )
