Yes - I was rather surprised by the minging note on the front of UK Amazon's website that essentially denied the existence of the new colour Kindle and played the good year blimp trick of 'look over here at the cheaper Kindle' in the hope you wouldn't notice the colour one or the silly price

The $79 Kindle is the ad-supported one. The cost of the non-ad-supported basic Kindle in the US, converted and VAT at 20% added, comes to about £85, so £89 is reasonable, allowing for currency fluctuations.
It's a whole different issue why the UK isn't allowed the ad-supported one, though.
I believe there are trechnical issues as to why the Kindle Touch and the new colour tablet aren't available here yet - something to do with the way the security works not being compatible with EC regs, I think. I guess they'll sort it out eventually
