I haven't really seen people talking about this; I'd almost forgotten it was even opening this week. I haven't seen it yet; not sure when I will (soon, of course).

The last two movies I saw (Watchmen, Star Trek) were at an IMAX theater near my office, because Q didn't really care to see them. I'm pretty sure she'll want to see this, though.
I thought the movie was very well done; some of the things that were really long and drawn out in the book were shorter and more subtle in the movie out of a desire to keep the movie at 2 1/2 hours. I just reread the book, and I didn't see any unnecessary cuts.
Thanks for the lack of spoilers. I'm glad to hear it's not long and drawn out; the book spends a large amount of time in pensieve flashbacks and other exposition, telling us (and Harry) all the things he ( ... )

I try to stay spoiler free when I write stuff this early. I'll probably write a more in depth examination of the movie later when most everyone has seen it. I don't even like putting spoilers behind cuts because I hate to ruin the anticipation even for people who have read the book and think they know what to expect.
If it makes you feel any better, I had a hard time getting back to sleep this morning myself; after I sent my labor report in, I crawled back into bed, only to have Xander join me, singing songs from vacation bible school in my ear.

I was really surprised at the lack of talking about it, especially since a handful of other movie premieres that I missed entirely have flooded my f-list in recent months.
There were a number of other movies that got major hype this year, some more justified than others.
I had thought you and Q would probably see this one last night or today because of her interest.
Q said that she didn't want to wake me up last night for the midnight show, which was appreciated; although I'll be up till past midnight tonight watching it, so I'll still be dead tomorrow. In general, I haven't seen nearly as much discussion of Harry Potter as I used to; I think it might be because the story is concluded (and some of us got more excited over the books than the movies) and/or because people have focused on new fandoms (one of which a friend of mine likes to refer to as "Twatlight").

BTW, I just finished cleaning out my wardrobe, complete with an adult-sized onesie, a couple of starbucks shirts, a pirate costume and french maid costume, a shirt that says "I HEART MY UTERUS" and a couple of polos.
I'll stop by and drop them off sometime tomorrow, I get out of class around 3:40 and the mall is on the way to my softball game at 5:30. You're admin-ing on Mondays, right?

We did see the movie last week (Richard mostly sat still and watched it, even though he found it a little scary and there were no musical numbers) and I also thought that they did a very good job of deciding what to cut and what not to cut. Q and I were speculating on the cuts on the way to the theater, and she thought that Dumbledore's funeral would have to be in there for the whole Elder Wand thing - but the way they zoomed in on the wand when Draco shot it out of Dumbledore's hand ought to be enough for a flashback/reference in the next movie. I was glad that Dumbledore's funeral was cut, because I really had to pee (note to self: stop buying large sodas at extra-long movies; didn't you learn your lesson at The Return of the King?) so I appreciated the fade to black that came pretty quickly after Dumbledore died, and they had one last scene to show Fawkes flying away and reaction shots of Harry, Ron, and Hermione. (Q was crying when Dumbledore died and couldn't believe that I wasn't also misty-eyed; but again, I was just thinking " ( ... )
