There and Back Again

I've been watching Peter Jackson's video blogs for The Hobbit. It's so cool to see the same locations and designs from a decade ago (a decade?! I feel old now!) and know they're going to be used for a new story. The cast is pretty exciting (my mind did boggle for a second when I first heard that Richard Armitage was playing a dwarf). I’m hoping very dearly that Richard Armitage will come to a convention while he’s in the country once filming is done but surprisingly and unfortunately there isn’t a lot of Lord of the Rings stuff at conventions.

I'm with you on the 3D, it hurts my eyes.

I'd have thought you'd be overrun with Lord of the Rings! Hopefully they will make an exception for him.
He's been here to film (as have half the actors in England, it seems), but we don't have conventions at all. :(

There’s things like hobbiton and you can buy your own Arwen necklace, the places where they film it really cash in on the tourist interest but when it comes to conventions it’s not really mentioned that much.

We pretty much owe our conventions to the one main guy that organises them, and I think we get lucky being next to Australia where sci fi conventions and the like are surprisingly big.
