you know, there is probably a less wordy way to explain that the culture of cool is set forth each new season by a cabal of designers, dorks, and pr folk. i don't really think i'm terribly elitist, and the thing that got me most into clothing is probably the precariousness of the notion of style. i could roll around in thrift store clothes and mix it with some accessories got at a steep discount or whatever, as long as the overall aesthetic fits. most of what it is is just feeling comfortable in your own skin. i like to think that it's the mindset that makes the man, but if the clothes make it easier to think that way, then so be it.
