More to report....and some temporary closings...and a Weird-Boy sign!

Apr 25, 2010 11:34

Last time, i had quite a few new additions that was shared with you.....due to time constraints (I was getting too tired!) i didnt post everything up.  Well, now i will correct that situation today!

Starting with stuff from the Joehler Showrooms....

24x30.  This was one of two routes commissioned by North and South Dakota to commemorate the Lewis and Clark Expeditions (Route 1806 was the other route)  Joehler had a set of these, so i grabbed them both  (SD as a 24x30 seems more natural than the scrunched up 24x24 version)

Next from Maine...a more normal 24x24 I-95

and this ME Turnpike (had two arrows on it at one time...you can see both of them if you look very closely at the white semi-circle on the bottom (the first was covered up, the second was simply removed...)

From Wyoming...a rather unusual approach to the alternate routes...(must be new....no bolt holes of any kind were drilled in it!

A couple of Interstates....Louisiana (surprised none bit on this, given state-named LA I-shields are nearly extinct)

Now i have a near-complete set of Connecticut aluminum I-shields (unless i stumble into a 79-spec I-86.....)...well, wait...i dont have I-291, I-384, and I-691.....nebbermind...

Elsewhere.......

Picked up this old-spec BL-75.  Was old US 25 (now County Road 25A) in the Tipp-City-Troy-Piqua Ohio areas

I had wanted one of these....they are common but highly sought after...

Now, some closings....

Oregon is now closed, thanks in large part to the tireless travellings of the famed DangerMoose....24x24 with stickied on 5.  Now i can somehow get rid of that hideous replica i had made last year that looks so bad, it makes those tinplate replica US 66es look real!

(and a late add-on from that recent flood of Oregon cutouts)

One more state closure...New Mexico (Thanks Jake)  Rather beaten up a bit, but nicely restored to the extent possible.

Two temporary closures.  Indiana, at least until i get a 24x24 Indy I-shield. This is a MONSTER at 44x30.....

and Louisiana.  Only LA would use 'B' font for a 2-di US shield!  (The date on the back seems to read '78' so i guess it is from then...)  Until i can somehow snag a state-named LA US shield, this will do...)

We close today with this rather unusual sign.  ODOT didn't know anything about it when i emailed them, but it was cool, an exact dimensional match for a standard Ohio cutout of the 50s.  This was VERY professionally done as well...there was speculation that it may have been a failed prototype for a color shield, One thing for certain. There is another one on eBay (ends today-post date), and i doubt anyone would shell out the money for two lark signs since custom silk screening can be pricey (That is old scotchlite (yellowish)sheeting on these signs, so they had to have been made before the mid-70s)  Who made them and for what purpose will have to be a mystery worthy of Detective Conan....or Velma ("Jinkies!")

and under flash....note how professionally everything was done...even has the correct ODOT rounded 'C' font for the '99'

Well, i think that is more than enough damage for one post!
