Hitting Girls...

I was hanging out with some friends off campus a few nights ago and there was much alcohol being consumed by most parties (I was not partaking).  The girl I was sitting next two was pretty intoxicated, and started to hit me.  I asked for it to stop, it did not; I ordered it to stop, it did not; I then stated that if it happened again I would stop ( Read more... )

Yes, and it has nothing to do with the fact that she is a girl. The simple point of fact is that as we engage ourselves in certain activities, humans become less and less, well human. To my thinking, it would be equally unsuitable to restrain a child in the same way. Perhaps as a matter of dicipline with one's own child, I will not attempt to broach this subject here though. Certainly with another person's child this is a flagarent social faux pas, and, in my mind, intoxicated people are little different than children. Tailoring ones response to the situation seems in order, should I repeatedly violate your personal space out of a sense of malice or perverse power trip, there might be some justification for a needlessly brutal response. Should I do the same thing instead from a grounded desire to cause you harm, sure, haul out and slug me. But an individual who is likely incapable of mustering the intellectual fortitude to remember your previous requests seems to beg for an alternate solution. So there are two hot blooded ( ... )
