Personality: When you first meet Vincent, there are things that are evident straight off the bat. The first is that he is first and foremost a bachelor; his messy apartment and late nights drinking with his friends is the first sign of that. The second sign falls in his inability to commit to his girlfriend of five years, Katherine. Despite the fact they've been together for so long (and that he is the one who initially pursued her), they haven't moved in together, and even the thought of further commitment seems to set him into a state of panic. He's lazy and unmotivated, and he often gets walked over by other people (evidenced by how he apparently works overtime without being paid extra for it). Even Katherine is a bit controlling in his life - it's theorized by Erica that part of the reason she stays with him at all is because she feels the need to take care of him; another makes a vague point about some men having an attraction to domineering women of sorts. He's kind of a failure in those regards, and definitely a borderline alcoholic given the way he drinks like a fish.

All of this is what drives the entire plot of the story, and ultimately, the massive change that occurs in Vincent's personality over the course of Catherine's nine days.

The change is almost immediate when he meets Catherine and begins to have the nightmares. Starting off as unsure of just about everything - from how to get through the various stages of the nightmares to how Catherine ended up naked in his bed, he becomes something of a mess. He likes Catherine, but he knows what he's doing is wrong. The moral battle begins - needing to end things with Catherine, but not being sure how to tell her. Her domineering ways allow Vincent to get pushed around, even conceding to telling her that she's the only one, when he fully knows that she isn't. It only gets messier with Katherine's reveal of her possible pregnancy. Vincent begins to panic right on the spot - between her news and his guilt, the lies start building.

It's a downward spiral of lies and deceit all over, but the further in he gets, the more Vincent begins to see the things he needs to do. In the nightmares, he's something of popular sheep, mastering the puzzles at incredible speed while also offering his support and advice to other sheep, showing is empathy for others around him, and just how much he wants them to get out of the nightmares alive. In his waking hours, he finally becomes firm in his decisions, where he confronts Catherine and ends their relationship (which does not end well for him, but he takes it... like a man, or something.) Things get further put into perspective when Katherine ends their relationship, citing that both his indecision and infidelity is only a sign that it wouldn’t work.

After she leaves, Vincent's turnaround begins to show. His experiences, both with Catherine and the nightmares have molded him in a stronger, more decisive person - to the point where he is willing to face even more nightmare puzzles to get back what he lost - or at least, to try. His desire becomes his idea of freedom: the things he wants, not what other people want of him. By the time the ending rolls around, he's strong-willed, determined and ready to commit to a monogamous life - a far, far cry from what he was to start.

Of course, that's the biggest change to his personality, but there are still other aspects that remain constant. His love of drinking (in excess, often) is one of them. He's got an extremely dry, sarcastic sense of humor, especially with his closest friends. But despite that, he's got a streak of being able to genuinely care for and want the best for the people around him (yes, even those who've given him a hard time throughout this whole ordeal). At heart, he's a good guy, just a bit misguided. And a bit fond of the word "fuck."

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ High alcohol tolerance - which makes him fast in nightmares. Not relevant in Route, but still to be noted.
+ Caring - He's a dumbass, but the whole reason he fell for Katherine to start was because he was supporting her when she was having her own relationship problems. Plus helping out all dem sheep in the nightmares
+ Quick thinker - When it comes to puzzles, at least. He's renowned in the nightmares for his speed and cunning with getting through the block towers.
+ Determined - Not until later in the game, but he reaches a frightening point of determination, willing to risk his life for the cause.
+ Good with technology - Those PokéGears will be easy as pie for him, considering he often buys electronics he doesn't need.

- High alcohol tolerance - When you're blackout drunk every night? I fear for what that man's liver looks like, seriously.
- Terrible liar - He turns into a stammering, yammering disaster when someone confront him with a situation he can't speak about honestly.
- Pushover - Though minimized by the end of the game, old habits die hard and there are definitely things and situations that would have him completely give in unwillingly.
- SUCKS - No, seriously. Cheating on your girlfriend with a crazy succubus? Totally not cool. Even if he apologizes a million times and makes it up to Katherine, he still pretty much sucks for doing that.

??? HE LIKES SPACE TRAVEL. I'm not sure where this falls due to the current state of NASA, but his love of this seems to come up frequently.

Samples
First Person Sample: [It doesn't take Vincent very look to figure out how to turn the PokéGear at all - he's pretty adept at technology. So here he is, a really unamused scruffy guy who's looking stressed and worn out. He can't help it, he's already got his suspicions about this place with only being here a few minutes.]

I thought we agreed to no more nightmares. [He's firm, and it sounds as if he's addressing someone specific. But who?] Is this supposed to be some kind of fucking joke? Pokémon? And what the hell is this,

[He pauses, adjusting the camera to show a Mareep on the screen.] supposed to be? Some kind of really funny joke, huh.

Fine, have it your way. I beat you last time, and if you're gonna fuck with me again, I'll just beat you this time, too. Just don't go dragging anyone else into it, got it? [Who the hell is he talking to? Who is this crazy, angry sounding disheveled guy? It doesn't seem to matter, because he turns off his Gear pretty abruptly after that.]

Third Person Sample: This was bad. Everything about the situation in front of him was bad. This was not supposed to be happening... so when Vincent turned to the sight of Catherine face-to-face with Katherine, he realize he had to think quick. If this was anything like that dream they had, there was absolutely no way they'd settle for just a Pokémon battle. It would be an all-out fight to the death... and no matter what happened, he'd probably be the one in the most pain at the end of it all.

He had to think fast. Either someone was going to get killed, or... someone was going to get killed. He could feel the beads of sweat forming at his hairline as his face went pale. Fuck. How the fuck am I going to explain this to Katherine? This is... disproving everything I said. It crossed his mind, immediately followed by the knowledge that Erica and Orlando wouldn't be much help... and Toby would probably somehow just make it worse. It was up to him.

But before he could step forward, Vincent felt a nudge at the back of his legs; looking down, his Mareep was giving an encouraging nod. She shifted, moving around as if to approach; in doing so, the wool around her began to charge up, sparking with lightning. It was only just then that he realized just what it was she had planned for both Katherine and Catherine. Sending him further into a state of panic, he leapt forward, effectively tackling the sheep and giving himself a minor electric shock in the process.

"Oh, no - no, no. Rapunzel, don't!" That would be bad. Vincent felt nothing short of unsurprised that his own Pokémon was the type to ignore him and take charge - but this was a bad time for that. A thunderbolt to the two women? Oh boy, that would make things even worse, and he knew it. "Just... stay here. I'll get this sorted out, okay? "

Even the frustrated Mareep didn't look convinced at was he was telling her, but conceded. Vincent shook his head and took a step forward - he couldn't let his Pokémon fight his battles for him. Not these types of battles, at least.
