Consanguinity is retarded. So I share similar genes with my parents. MY marrow still produced MY blood, and I'm still closer to you by far, my Sam, than to my father.

exactly.

my family has used this phrase to make up for all of it's relational short comings. as if out of some obligation to do what's normal and "right" we've had to pretend that we related and love eachother (in my family).

long story, but my mom has taught me the valuable lesson of burning bridges. she doesn't speak to her parents anymore and hasn't done anything remote to "hello" with her sister in years, or anyone distant to her, and especially not my dad's side of the family.

I've had this becon of an example of how "important" my family should be to me. and it's almost nothing. part of me wishes I had grown up around cousins and uncles and my other set of grandparents, but that's just not reality. and today I'm more of an independent secularist than I am a third generation Cuban. and that's just how it is.
