one of my roommates just stopped smoking weed and she's a different person now. nothing like psychotic episodes, but you can definately see a difference. i really think it depends on the individual, though. and a whole lot of other stuff obviously. i'd definately like to do more research on the subject

Yeah I read that.
I didn't like how they said the effects of pot are damaging, though, since it implies researchers found it harmful to the brain itsself, which is different from just temporarily producing an effect, good or bad. And schizophrenia is a serious disease that I'm not surprised at all for being affected by THC, but I'm wary to believe that using pot - in one instance or long term - can make you crazy.

This article is crappy scientific journalism. One of the effects of THC is that it blocks random neurotransmitters in much of the brain, which is why it makes it harder to concentrate, access memories, and learn as other studies have shown. Their MRI scan didn't find this dynamic so much as affirm existing data. This is old news and the writer should have addressed the existing body of information on the subject, which they didn't because they are lazy or their editor thinks people are idiots ( ... )
