Really intriguing take on this story. His perspective on being tossed about between masters was insightful, and I really liked the moments when he reflected on how pretty Pauline was, and how his position allowed him liberties that others might not enjoy. Nicely done!

This is a great piece. Pride, indeed. Machiavellian!Jeeves is blinded by it as he councils Chuffy on its dangers. I hope he's learned his lesson. Maybe he can just hand Bertie a copy of the “Pauline” letter to read on the drive home. Good show - I must say, I'm highly envious of your writing ability. Oh, and the “keeping a bower quiet” wheeze was hilarious.
