Things I have done this weekend:
* See Wolverine. lololololololol oh my god, four explosions in a row? And about a dozen head-thrown-back, claws-out RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH moments? Ridiculously entertaining. Although Wade being constitutionally unable to shut up, combined with the last twenty minutes or so of the movie, made me hungry for some kind ( Read more... )

I definitely want to hear your thoughts on Star Trek once you've seen it. I barfed up a big flaily post that was 100% uncritical squee but since then I've been giving much more thought to the dynamics of...a certain pairing and feeling the need to refresh my knowledge of canon so's I can compare AND I JUST WANT TO GEEK OUT over Spock and Vulcan society in general and btw, &your dad;

And congratulations on your under-the-cut happiness! <3

My sister and I grew up in a TNG-only household (we couldn't really get into DS9 because politics and a severe lack of &Dr. Crusher;, &Picard; and &Geordi;, and DO NOT GET ME STARTED on V'ger), but my dad used to give business meetings dressed as Mr. Spock and my mom was an epic TOS fanlady. IF ONLY WE HAD STARTED GOING TO CONVENTIONS SOONER, AND ALL TOGETHER.

Our big family joke is Worf quotes, though. PRUNE JUICE, IT IS A WARRIOR'S DRINK.

BTW, did you know Peter S. Beagle (of The Last Unicorn) wrote the "Sarek" episode of TNG? Which is all EPIC SPOCK'S DADDY? :D

ANYHOO, yes as soon as I see the movie I will moast likely come flail all over LJ about it. It's kind of a relief to see that JJ Abrams didn't fuck it up, and also that Uhura has more to do.

PS, without spoilers, how awesome is Simon Pegg as Scotty? I MUST KNOW

Simon Pegg's Scotty is my favorite character update apart from Spock. And my love for Zachary Quinto's Spock can barely be contained by this fragile body; in fact, I think I like him better than Nimoy. Just to give you an idea.

TNG is the only series I've watched apart from TOS (and only part of it). I enjoyed it and the characters but it never quite stuck with me the way TOS did. The classic campy factor is a big part of my enjoyment, plus nostalgia, and I think mebbe TNG took itself a bit...seriously? Idk, but that's my impression from a distance of what, 15 years now? Yikes. I don't even remember the Sarek episode! Then again, I didn't watch the whole series.

But oh dear god &your whole family;. Please never stop sharing anecdotes about them.
