Know what I love about being an adult?

You can buy your cereal based on the toys and shit in the box and nobody gives a fuck.

In related news, I now have a light-up Engineering badge. I'm going to mount this sucker on a pin and wear it on my shirt.

ETA: Oh god, you know what I just realized? Having grown up on TNG, it's always been Just The Way ( Read more... )

I think the uniform change might have been because Redshirts were such a joke?

lol I'm imagining this happening at Starfleet headquarters now.

"Officers, it is the opinion of this Special Commission that, pursuant to careful review of our flagship's logs, we make a change in Starfleet uniform protocol. Apparently Starfleet officers wearing standard Engineering red tend to die horribly at least five times as often as other officers."

Because Vulcans and Romulans didn't want to have to wear green shirts since you couldn't tell if they were seriously wounded or not? I guess?

By TOS rules they apparently are! Redshirts were complete cannon fodder, whereas in TNG a red shirt was In Motherfucking Charge And Not To Be Killed Thanks So Much. Kinda makes you wonder what the Starfleet Fashion Design Corps was thinking.

I so did that when TDK came out. I still have a mini-Joker action figure from a box of Cherrios sitting on my bookshelf. And despite the fact that I abhor everything that Burger King stands for, I seriously covet one of those Trek glasses.
