There used to be a cool little shareware program called World Builder that let people create their own point-and-click adventure games for the Mac. It required a little programming, but mostly of the sort you could easily work out through trial-and-error. (Making graphics that didn't suck was by far the harder part, from my perspective.)
I don't think it works in OSX, but if your computer is old enough to run Classic, it might be fun to play around with if you can find a copy.
Hey, I think I remember a couple of World Builder games! There was one about a zoo, and I think I played one with a Vorpal Bunny in it... Thanks for the link! :D
