The unexplained ringing of the mysterious bell sounded for miles upon miles; some argued it traveled the entire stretch of the Grand Line. Everywhere, daily activities paused. On the balcony of a palace in Alabasta, Princess Vivi stood and watched the people below her straining to listen in curious wonder, and she smiled, not really knowing for sure, but guessing it was them. Inside a strong fortress on the peak of a snowy winter mountain, Dr. Kureha lowered her wine bottle from her lips and chuckled in a thoughtful manner. Above the tall jungle trees of Little Garden, the giants Dorry and Broggy stopped their daily duel and reared their heads back with mirth.
The cigarette almost fell out of Montblanc Cricket’s mouth and he turned back to the two monkeys, who were chortling and cheering at some inside joke or another.
“Oi!” He snapped at them. “Shut the hell up and listen!”
He grinned, then, looking back up at the sky and seeing the jubilant shadow of Monkey D. Luffy etched among the clouds.
“You hear that, Norland? That boy just saved your name, you lucky son of a bitch.”
And somewhere, up there, in the air, in the sky, in the clouds - someone laughed and someone sobbed, and together those two someone’s cheers sounded in time with the ringing of the colossal golden bell, and if two spirits could hug and hold each other tight after 400 years than they were, and they would for all eternity because now nothing could keep them apart again. The fire of Shandra was alive once more.
