Is that lens for a Minolta SLR camera? If so, you might have some difficulties.
My SLR is a Minolta and they are notorious for making camera bodies that only take one kind of lens and aren't interchangable even with newer Minolta camera bodies.
Do you have a good camera store there? I would recommend you take your lenses into the store and then just try them on for size.
I don't know the specific stats, but even if it does fit on a DSLR, you lose some of your f stop capabilities. In other words it will narrow the workable range of the lens.
I have a Nikon DSLR. I purchased that because a good friend has one and we can interchange lenses with each other. I like the camera. It is worth the money.
Having said that though, if I were to do it over again, I would probably buy a Canon, as their technology winds up being about 6 mos to a year ahead of Nikon's and they have comparable prices.
I looked up that lens, and it could be for a variety of brands. Quantaray makes third party lenses for Canon, Nikon, and Minolta (maybe more, but I've seen these 3). What does the mount of the lens look like? Canon mounts use a little red dot to indicate the mount point (or a white dot on digital-only lenses, but yours would probably be red). A camera store could probably look at the mount and tell you which one it is.
(I use the Canon Digital Rebel XTi dSLR and love it!)
hard to say because quantaray makes lenses with many kinds of mounts. But if you say it has minolta written somewhere then that's probably what it fits. I'm not up on minolta stuff but if it's like Nikon it should fit any of their cameras. You can always check their site and email them?
You know what I'm gonna say as far as cameras go right? *grin*
