“Where were you when I needed to hear it?”
“I was there. Where were you?”
It was at that moment when all the things that were never said were laid bare.
Castiel didn’t know that he would be welcome.
Dean didn’t know that Cas felt he was a burden.
They didn’t know.
Angel and Human. It didn’t used to matter.
Now the line was drawn.
You left.
You wouldn’t listen.

Summary: This too will end.
It’s war. Nobody wins. It’s just a matter of how much more can be lost.
Castiel will exhaust all options and die trying, than to sit idly by and let Raphael lead the Apocalypse. Dean told him once that this was worth dying for.
To win, he will lose everything that meant to him. Even Dean.
When needs must.
Raphael must be defeated, first.
Castiel will deal with Crowley next.
And if Dean finds a way to take Castiel’s life, then so be it. His only comfort is that there is an end to all these.

Title: Being Human

Summary: They bring order to chaos, these agents of fate. He used to be one of them.
There are alternate worlds created from infinite decisions made by man. This is how amazing his Father’s creations are. He’s given them the ability to create worlds without their knowledge, and the capability for the kind of chaos that’s incomprehensible even to the Host.
In all these worlds, in all the changes of time, there are those beings that remain constant. The most powerful ones are those that can traverse through time and space intact, unchanging and unaffected in their relentless assault to carry forward whatever service is bound to their existence. They bring order to chaos, these agents of fate.
He used to be one of them.
Castiel steps forward, away from the snowy Alps and into a time where things are much simpler. He sees himself, staring back at him. He remembers this day well, and what his thoughts were at the time.
“You should not be here,” his past tells him. Just behind that wall is the room where Dean waits with worry and despair coiled together in an infinite loop.
Truly, he shouldn’t. But he can change things, here. His mind calculates all the events that will change if he is to interfere now, and he weighs these changes in his heart. Even Raphael has not gone this far as to change past events so drastically, and yet here Castiel is now and considering it once again.
“Are you aware of all the risks?” he asks instead.
Castiel of the past tilts his head almost mockingly and does not grant a reply. Of course. They are still one and the same, after all.
Ashamed of himself, he returns to the specific time and space he’s left a moment ago. Back to the Alps, where the world remains quiet and calm so he can think.
It feels different from falling. He’s still an angel, but he’s becoming more human.
And Father, somehow, has given him a world of his choosing and he does not like it. There is a different Castiel in all the other worlds of the past but he can no longer move forward like an angel who existed outside time should. The first time he’s tried to see beyond this day, there is nothing.
“We’re making it up as we go,” he murmurs to no one in particular. How do humans live for so long without the reassurance of a tomorrow?
Nobody answers him.

Title: I Love You
Author:
cugami Rating: PG
Genre and/or Pairing: Slash, Dean/Castiel
Spoilers: Season 6
Warnings: none
Word Count: 414
Summary: Theirs is a language of getures.
Theirs is a language of gestures, in all the little things that were often mistaken for nothing and in all grand things that were mistaken for a greater good. But it was for him, and him alone, that these were given but never said.
When Cas said he could throw Dean back in Hell, he meant he could go through Hell again with Dean if it became a necessity.
When Dean swung a blow that did absolutely nothing to Alastair, it really was stupid but it bought the seconds for an angel’s life.
When Cas betrayed heaven, it was because he saw that beyond the despair there remained a spark of hope, that despite it all Dean still believed in good things if not for himself then for other people.
When Dean banished the angels from Chuck’s house, it was not to be saved alone but it was loaded with spite and bitterness that the wrong angels lived and not the one that mattered.
When Cas made a mission of keeping Sam safe, it was more than the friendship he had with the younger Winchester because Dean would die without his Sammy. Worlds would die before any harm could come to either Winchesters.
When Dean gave the amulet to Cas, it was not because he believed that God could be found, but simply because Cas had lost so much already and Dean did not wish to deny him the world.
When Cas tossed back the amulet like it meant nothing, Dean felt the world slip and slide off all that held it still.
When Dean prayed, he did it in jest because people were looking, waiting. And chick-flick was not his public face.
When Cas said he was busy, he meant he was dying and he’d rather not burden Dean of this grief.
So when Dean allowed the holy fire to encircle his friend, it wasn’t to trap Cas like a prisoner. It’s because this was the only way to make him stay.
It was the same when Cas beat Dean in an alley, where dying was as good an option as any.
It was a trust earned through sacrifice. It was friendship carved into the flesh and written in blood.
And not in so many words but in as much blood, sweat and tears to be had between two people trying to be strong, while the rest of the world did its best to crumble all around them…
It was I love you.
