Random update!

I've been experimenting with facial hair.  Yeah, I've grown what I thought was a goatee but that my friend Steve says vehemently is a "Van Dyke."  A quick jump onto Wikipedia confirms that he might be more right than me, but in any case... yeah.  Scary!  I've had good response though, so far... perhaps the experiment will become semi-permanent.

Ahhh, the professorly hatred of non-science majors who are forced by the university to take a math or science course continues. :P C'mon, dude, this isn't people who take the course and then whine -- this is people who are English majors having to do Calculus, after meticulously picking a career to avoid doing just that.

Though maybe I'm just bitter, because I took astronomy for non-science majors and was SUPER enthusiastic about it, only to have the professor open the course with, "I hate non-science majors, so I'm going to make this course more difficult than the regular one. HA, HA." He used to tell us to derive formulas WITH OUR BRAINS instead of giving them to us. Like, "Here's a solar system. Figure out how to calculate the mass of every body in it". Then after we were all in tears, he'd go "Oh, yeah, there's a formula for that, and it took the original guy 5 years, but I'm not going to tell you what it is, because it's YOUR FAULT for thinking you'd get an easy class". :((((((((((((((((

Oh no no! This IS for science majors, it's just for biological science majors, as opposed to physical science majors. English peeps don't gotta take no math if they don't want to ... these are all people who are quite probably going to see some flashes of math here and there through their lifetimes.

Plus, a prof like that is just stupid... that's unfair, and I would never do that to my students in any course!
